By the time samples of pyrazolam had been produced, it was evident that some people would imbibe 'heroic' doses. Being as it was the first RC benzo, it was key to produce one that was as safe as possible. Animal tests showed no toxicity even up to very large doses... so it wasn't blindly chosen. It was as much as it was realistic for someone to obtain in a single order.
Lets face it, IF it was toxic, a great way to end up as a headline is by people dying and their only being 1 producer. I do not recommend it. It wasn't fun. But I was quite confident it would be OK.
But when nitrazolam began to appear, I realised that people who may have developed a huge benzodiazepine habit MIGHT end up being poisoned by it. I mean, even though nitrazepam (Mogadon) was the very first benzo aimed at treating insomnia, replacements turned up quite quickly and none of those later compounds were nitrobenzodiazepines. Without admitting fault, replacements were being sought.
