There is a spiritual theory that all souls choose their bodies and their parents so they can learn lessons and attain a higher state in "the other place". Whether a person happens to believe in such things is their own bizniz but I always rather liked the idea myself.

I've always been ugly lol but I used to hate how beautiful women could get away with being all moody n stuff! 'Twas like men were willing to put up with a beautiful moody person but if an ugly person is moody they must toe the line. So annoying n really used to infuriate me.

I always did like it as an idea, whether I actually believe it over any of the other ideas I can't claim to be totally convinced but it definitely has an appeal. I think perhaps the appeal is simply cos it justifies anything - which is also what makes it kinda suspect. Had a terrible life inflicted with every possible calamity? It's because you needed to know how it felt and next time round (or somewhere else if you've been really good) will be different and probably better (assuming you take the hint this time round). Born into insane privilege with every conceivable benefit and good fortune? No wonder you irritate people you were probably a bit weak inside and needed extreme bolstering... or to realise none of that stuff matters. It's rather widely open to interpreting in whatever way suits a person but it is a nice idea all the same. Kinda poetic.
