Television Breaking Bad

yea i didnt get that scene at first either, but im guessing thats going to be in the final episode or 2, maybe his final stand armed with an m60 heavy barrel machine gun.

So it's taken 50 episodes to get through 1 year on the show, but they're going to go through the next year in 14 episodes? It'll only be 14 episodes assuming the Season 5 opening where Walt is 52 is the last episode, if not it'll be even less.

I wonder if that means there's going to be something in the story where things are "normal" and several months go by without any incident.

Walt getting his Heisenberg hat back. A symbolic moment of him embracing and solidifying his transition over to "the dark side"?

After this last episode, I'm convinced I would have been happier if the show had ended after four seasons.

Walt is a stupid, oblivious cunt now.

wow....haters, and jumpinmg shark?

I thought the shark was jumped somewhere in season 1...since then it's just been some crazy show that's entertaining to watch.

There's a lot to react to in that last episode.

Season 5 is being split into 2x 8 episodes with the 2nd 8 episodes being broadcast in 2013

Word. Didn't mean to seem confrontational if that's how it appeared, just wasn't sure if you were contradicting my statement or something.

I definitely agree with this. He has begun to wear his (pork pie?) hat around his family, showing that Heisenberg has almost fully "consumed" him and there is no turning back. Kind of like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a modern sense.

Any thoughts on the watch that Jessie gave walt for his birthday? Maybe far fetched but it seems like it might come back with some significance.

This weeks podcast (Se05 Ep04), guests include Vince Gilligan, Anna Gun (Skyler) and Director Rian Johnson.
Listening to it now, should be a good one.

*Edit* Very cool podcast. Learnt alot from it and yes, they do talk about the "watch" at the end of the episode. I'm not going to say anything, you'll have to listen to it if you want to.
What I can say is that they said the next episode is going to be huge.

You need to realize this show's been symbolic and included foreshadowing since the beginning. So with that in mind it's not far fetched at all. I think Mike's "You're a time bomb. Tick Tick tick" quote has a lot to do with the emphasis on ticking at the very end of the episode, just as it lends significance to Jessie's present and Skyler's plan to wait for the cancer to come back.

I don't see how Skyler's actions have caused anyone to say that the show has jumped the shark. She's not nearly as good a liar as Walt, mainly because lying doesn't sit well with her like it sits well with Walt. She's in over her head, that was a clear visual metaphor, and she's been feeling completely overwhelmed ever since she realized Walt's capable of blowing up a nursing home.

Along with Mike saying that Walt is like a ticking time bomb I have read from another blog that the end scene that focused on the watch showed the second hand counting up from 50 (his birthday at the start of the series), 51 (his birthday now), to 52 (his future birthday that was shown at dennys at the start of season five). When the hand hit 52 it was a gun cocking sound instead of a tick. It could mean that 52 is the end of Walt and he has 1 year left.

i could have sworn that was the sound of a gun being cocked. glad im not the only one who got that.

It's at the very end of the episode right before the credits come up. I had rewatched the episode after reading this thread and the mention of it. I'm not sure it's a gun cocking (it could be), but there is a different noise than the previous ticks on the watch.

The show has used 'dings' and 'ticks' a lot throughout. Hector Salamanca's bell on his chair is a prime example. When Hank had his first panic attack in the elevator at work it was started and ended by the dings of the elevator. There's been other examples as well, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. I think there was another elevator ding moment but with Gus when he visits the hospital after Hank is shot.
