Yeah, levittown is like a half an hour from me, not too terrible, but I wanted to hear some music. Napalm Death said the show was cancelled because there was no PA (which makes no sense; Ritual isn't a shithole and they could fix it if there were technical issues). After calling the promotor, we found out Napalm refused to play because there were far too few people there to ensure their guaranteed paycheck. Not quite sure why the other bands didn't just play, maybe for a reduced ticket price (I have seen promotors pull this off).

I'm annoyed that Napalm didn't just stay and play and take half of their usual paycheck or whatever (they were already AT the damn venue), but I guess they wanted to get back on the road. I guess the promotor is to blame as well, you can't book a band that is guaranteed $2000 bucks a night (or whatever Napalm Death brings in) and have 50 kids there for 15 bucks a ticket.

The show was supposed to be:
NAPALM DEATH
A LIFE ONCE LOST
4 IN THE CHAMBER
REVENANCE
SOWN IN TEARS
A MURDER AMONG FRIENDS


as for Lair of the Minotaur and Goatwhore, they are assume bands, but I am not sure they would be to your taste....but I'd stay for a bit if I was you..

I think I am hitting up the Friday show @ the Knitting Factory. I have family obligations on Saturday. :\
 
^^^ hopefully you'll be able to get out of your family obligations early since the show in the city was cancelled. :/ it's going to be packed and hot... they really need to start having more shows at the donkey at least instead of fuckin shithole ritual!

Hope Converge was good...I didn't think I'd be able to get there on time and thought it might have been sold out since the NYC show was cancelled.
 
converge was amazing. i feel complete now. i was shocked that it was NOT sold out. i got there late (pretty much just for converge... i didn't want to suffer through some girls), figuring it would be hot and crowded, but it wasn't at all. a good sized crowd, but i've seen that place much more packed.

they played about half their set from the new album, and the other half was old stuff. even though i like their new album, their old stuff is definitely better. lots of bullshit fighting, lots of people getting kicked out. where do these douchbags come from anyway?

I'm glad the show went well, and a little more annoyed that I missed it. I was hoping you would say it was hot, crowded and the sound sucked. ;)

I don't know what it is with Converge, but every time I have seen them there have been many fights..:\
 
i understand that converge's music would make someone get crazy and physical... but there's a differece b/w dancing hard and fighting. the people who were fighting were people i have NEVER seen at shows. ever. where did they come from?

Hmmm, I'd say either jaded old scene guys who felt like beating someone up, or people who were going to go to the NYC show and felt like beating up some Long Islander's they would never see again..it's hard to say..
 
^^^ nah, they were young. they all got the shit beat out of them and/or got kicked out. they won't be back to long island anytime soon ;)

Xena, I know you aren't a big God Forbid fan, but will you be in attendance? It seems like you go to every show in the tri-state area anyway. ;)
 
^^^ haha, not tri-state, just long island. (where i don't have to pay ;)) yeah, i'll be there tomorrow. i'm not a fan of god forbid, but my good friends of drowned sorrow (shitty band, but good guys) are on 3rd, so i'm heading out early to check them out. hopefully i'll still be hanging around when you get there! :)

suffocation makes that show worth seeing. hatebreed will draw a huge crowd as always so itl be a fun time. id love to see suffocation live, throw us a review when u get back man!
