Botanical and Herbal board?

Should Bluelight have a dedicated Ethnobotany Discussion forum?

  • Yes, and I would frequent such a forum

It would be a great addition to the board since there are many plants/herbs/etc. available and some are good alternatives for other illegal drugs (Valerian, Guarana, Ginseng, Lotus Flower, LSA seeds, Kratom, just to name a few).

It's got my vote. :)

i would think that of all people, you teotzl would be against a botanical board, because of all the "unwashed noobs" coming in here looking to get high off grass clippings...

personally bluelight is highly specialized for the topics that are covered here. botanicals are such a rich field that there's no way it could be covered in any depth, and there are tons of great boards that already cover botanicals. shroomery and mycotopia come to mind, and the latter one even has a powerful cactus and mimosa contingent, with a smattering of LSA and kratom students.

what I like about this forum is the vigilant moderators that keep things on topic, close repetitive threads, and generally encourage in-depth discussion.

I am not interested in a separate forum.

i appreciate your sentiment, but there is a whole mess of people who shy away from the attitude here at bluelight. these people have lots of in-depth knowledge of botanicals, but their knowledge will not find its way to this board because of the other topics found on bluelight-- namely RCs, ecstacy, steroids, and the dark side...

i agree it would be great if there could be a one-size-fits-all forum that covered all of our diverse sub-interests, but some people want to belong to a small, focused, tightly knit community. besides, bluelight isn't the only place that has good moderators :)

ok, ok.

There is none so sinful that they cannot be cleansed :)

Botanicals have so so many uses and people usually have no idea that there are herbs and plants that have very valuable properties, I think this proposal is necessary!

The barrier to this proposal had less to do with the usefulness of the herbs (health board) and more to do with trying to convince people of the need for it in regard to harm reduction, the focus of this site.

I personally feel that that it would be nice if people could get better information regarding the recreational use of botanical drugs, from ephedra, to Khat, to Sida Cordifolia, to Kratom, to Kava, to Mulungu, to other herbal drugs that are neither Psychedelics nor health supplements.

I mean....we dont even have a tag for them in OD. Just a tag would be nice IF there was a better way to filter by tags....which there isnt.

I also made the argument that it would be nice to expand psychedelics to allow psychedelics AND non psychedelic ethnobotanicals....since the PD crowd is more likely to be into herbal highs compared to the OD crew.

I also suggested a board specifically for NON-Psychedelic herbal drugs which are not health supplements but drugs deserving their own harm reduction topics....there are thousands of them. The board may not generate as many threads as PD or OD, but the topics would get better coverage and attention and it would not impact any of the other boards in any significant way.

Whatever though. I guess you can just post about it in basic drug discussion.
