boring!

*cough* keep thread on topic *cough* ;)

Or i might just CLAWS the lot of you...

(see how much more fun that would have been if I'd been able to say FIST) ;)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

this is the problem with the forum... :P

I dunno really, I think that it should be a social forum, with no topics really frowned upon... I mean, allow posters in the forum to feel comfortable in posting in the forum, and not having to worry about their thread being closed or moved or scrutinized.

If people wanna organise a trip, let 'em organise a trip... and who cares if they spam up their thread?

I dunno, all I'd really suggest is that everyone smokes up a phattie blunt and chills out a bit. %)

more midget pr0n.

and we need to commission munch and elver to come back and post at least 3 funny posts a day.

;)

Boring?

Yeah, so Social's a little dull at the moment. *shrug*

These things cycle - at the moment, so close to exams and with winter setting in, people are a little down and this is reflected in the threads created. It'll pick up come holidays, I'm sure.

If you look at the board right now, there's a lot of introspective topics being posted, quite a few with a negative focus. I think people just need to get this out of their systems and cheer up a little! There are also quite a lot of "insider' threads - Blue TV etc. Yes, this is cliquey, but as someone more on the outer, it doesn't really bother me. The cliquey side of bluelight is not necessarily a bad thing - it's what turns this place into a community more than a bulletin board. It's not so exclusive that I feel left out, nor did I back in my green days - I actually enjoyed reading such threads to get a feel for the personalities of the people who keep this board going. Maybe some people do feel a little excluded though when there are so many of these types of threads on the first page. They also do get a bit tiresome after the first 3 or so pages - kind of lingering on life support when the topic has passed its use-by.

Basically people, this is our place - it's what we make it. Think about the posts you are creating and what sort of discussions and emotions they will generate. A little positivity goes a long way, as does a little intelligence. I understand that relaxing the moderation helps the board evolve and gives us as posters more responsibility to create threads that aid the process of creating the place you want. Some threads really don't stimulate anything (what does your car numberplate spell? etc) and are actually quite pointless and boring. So be conscious of what you post in relation to how you would like the board to evolve.

And I guess "How much to (sic) you go out?" is infinitely more intellectual and absorbing?

My lighthearted posts of late are *trying* to address the very phenomenon people here are noticing - not every topic has to be based on politics, movies or computers. Yeah they might seem a little inane, but the best comedy and discussion sometimes comes from the "little things" in life.

At least I'm trying to contribute instead of whinging.

/apologies for seeming defensive, but you had to pick my post to complain about ;) /

well said.

mods have a different perspective considering we view and go through the same threads everyday when we're online.

this thread wasnt exactly a complaint on the state of things but rather to solicitate some response as to how the rest of BL feel about social.

if everyone else is happy with the forum, then we're happy! ;)=D

I have only a few things thing to say (how unusual):

http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=70497&highlight=zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*

This thread (and a lot of the old BL) worked because of the LACK of Moderation of topics that went off-tangent, within an on-topic thread. In other words, the old BL Moderation philosophy didn't need a Moderator coming into a thread that had been deemed On Topic for that particular forum and actually moderating individual posts to see if they were on-topic or not. The htread above, even, worked because of the hilarious situation of people doing exactly that: lalalalahhing (by the way LaLaGatecrasher, I love your name) about a totally non-related (as it turned out) topic!

With changed Moderation has come a cleaner, safer and more respectable BL social Forum. And that has made it just a little more boring to be around... even the old Forum Trolls stay away (who could forget Circles&Squares??...amazing stuff).

You want a revolution? Give the topics back to the people and Moderate only to protect civil rights and the BL board itself, no more.

As you quite rightly guessed, I was trolling you to enliven proceedings around here a little tonight and get your posts up where you wanted them. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the post that you started in that thread. It was on-topic, and I wasn't arguing against that. I was suggesting, to you only, that the content was less than thrilling and you were probably capable of better.

So are you?

/me sits on the grandstand, popcorn in hand, thinking "There's something missing...isn't there usually a monkey around here?"

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! =D
