Boring?
Yeah, so Social's a little dull at the moment. *shrug*
These things cycle - at the moment, so close to exams and with winter setting in, people are a little down and this is reflected in the threads created. It'll pick up come holidays, I'm sure.
If you look at the board right now, there's a lot of introspective topics being posted, quite a few with a negative focus. I think people just need to get this out of their systems and cheer up a little! There are also quite a lot of "insider' threads - Blue TV etc. Yes, this is cliquey, but as someone more on the outer, it doesn't really bother me. The cliquey side of bluelight is not necessarily a bad thing - it's what turns this place into a community more than a bulletin board. It's not so exclusive that I feel left out, nor did I back in my green days - I actually enjoyed reading such threads to get a feel for the personalities of the people who keep this board going. Maybe some people do feel a little excluded though when there are so many of these types of threads on the first page. They also do get a bit tiresome after the first 3 or so pages - kind of lingering on life support when the topic has passed its use-by.
Basically people, this is our place - it's what we make it. Think about the posts you are creating and what sort of discussions and emotions they will generate. A little positivity goes a long way, as does a little intelligence. I understand that relaxing the moderation helps the board evolve and gives us as posters more responsibility to create threads that aid the process of creating the place you want. Some threads really don't stimulate anything (what does your car numberplate spell? etc) and are actually quite pointless and boring. So be conscious of what you post in relation to how you would like the board to evolve.
