⫸STICKY⫷ Books - Authors & Books Discussion

So when you first got hold of the book you had no idea who Robert Anton Wilson was, never heard of Eris & Discordia, never heard the music of KLF?
I had vaguely heard of RAW because my dad had some record lying around that was a collaboraion between him and this Irish band called the Golden Horde. The album was called "The Chocolate Biscuit Conspiracy." Obviously I had no clue what they were on about but I did like it and listen to it as a young kid. But other than that I had no clue about any of it, except for a vague notion that Robert was a bit of a freak. In a good way.
I was living with & scoring mushrooms & weed off people who were very aware of this stuff.
After I read this book I got big into RAW and read all of the stuff you'd think I would've read. (Prometheus Rising was the biggest deal for me). What I was doing mostly at the time was large quantities of what was supposedly dextroamphetamine (and it probably was, or close enough anyways.) So I would just blab about it to my friends until they had really had enough. For about six months straight. Very different scene I than yours I think.
I wasn't a fan of The USA, well the part I was at anyway, the USA is huge, it is my dream to go see some of the South.
I'm not a big fan of the USA either, but did spend a summer in the South (NE Florida, aka Floridabama) and I loved it. I live in Arizona mostly when I am over there. I sort of hate that place, although there are some amazing people, as there are everywhere.

Just started "Pimp: The Story of my Life" by Iceberg Slim

"“Why did Justice really always wear a blindfold? I knew now. It was because the cunning bitch had dollar signs for eyeballs”
“I smelled the stink that only a street whore has after a long, busy night.”
“No more small towns for me. I was going to the city to get my degree in pimping.”
I have a close friend that reads nothing except for this book, about once a year. I just texted him and he said he's currently reading it for the fifth time. Funny book. This guy treats it as his bible basically. Is it actually a good read? I've always been skeptical...

Youtube has so many videos of Reactions of people around your age & usually from The USA filming their first time reaction to 3am Eternal video etc, it always makes me smile how the people love it & they are all shocked at the year it came out. They are well worth having a look at I promise you.
I've never watched any of these videos, but I loved their music when I listened to it after reading the book. Especially "It's Grim up North" and that album with the sheep on it. The music video for It's Grim is really funny to me. It does help that the North of England is the only England that I am familiar with, I worked at a bar in Hebden Bridge for a couple of months last year, which was good. I've never been south of Manchester airport though.
Birmingham general area I am totally unfamiliar with, although I do know that my cousin went to Uni down there for a bit and absolutely hated it. I'm sure it's fine though.
