body ink (merged)

I finally got pics of all my tattoos. They are all cliched and girly but the mean the world to me and i love them to pieces :)

Love tattoo

Dolphin tattoo - i' ll have to take a better one because this one is really more beautiful and detailed then it looks

Flower Tattoo

Butterfly Tattoo - which as it turned out maybe should have been put in the boobs thread but thats what you get when a boy takes the pic lol

*might have to wait for them to be approved ...

^^love your butterfly tat!
i have always wanted a tat, i have friends with them and i got so jealous when i saw them. i was really close to getting one at the beginning of this year, but a funny thing happened... i was talking to a friend who had heaps of tattoos everywhere about what i was getting done, and i told him some of my ideas, and he told me that you have to get the right thing at the time time, but ALSO in the right place, i.e. it doesn't make much sense to have something really tiny (like i was thinking) on you arm where it looks insignificant.
im sure any good tatooist would say the same stuff, but i hadnt really spoken to anyone about it.
so i thought about it, and it was so true. what i wanted to get was a heart and he suggested the place on your hand, just between your thumb and index finger. i know its not "traditional" or anything to have a tat on your hand, but i still cant stop thinking about it! anyways, i congratualate and envy all of you who have yours already and are happy! :)
on a tangent, i have my naval and my tongue pierced, but i think that the pain from a tattoo would be heaps worse... does anyone have both and would like to comment/compare?!?

well the pain from a tattoo is hard to describe. Everyone has their own tolerance/threshold of pain. I worked at a tattoo/body piercing place for ages and saw many people handle tattoos in most spots of the body different. I would describe a tattoo more as a slight annoying pain sometimes gets painful. Then again, I've seen people almost scream at the so called 'easy spots' (such as shoulder blades and outer biceps).

The best advice I can give is, don't drink any alcohol before the tattoo (it usually makes you bleed a lot more, making the tattoo take longer and may not look as good as the tattooist always has blood covering where he is working). Just put your mind elsewhere and try to zone out and don't work yourself up about it. Also don't tense/try to 'fight the tattoo' just let it flow and before you know it, the tattoo will be done! :)

The healing I can best describe as mild to somewhat bad sunburn feeling.

And times have changed (or individual artists feelings possibly), the ones I knew would never tattoo someone 'off the street' on the hands or face unless already done because it may be a badly regretted decision sometime later (sooner?) in life.

Best of luck with any decisions you make with any work you get done.

One of the guys I work with came in on Monday and showed me his new tattoo on his bicep. Above it were the intitials BB. I asked what it stood for. He replied that it was the boyfriend he'd split up with a day after getting the tat.

Ouch!

Ouch!

now thats gotta suck!

my ex tattooed my name on his arm after we broke up 8) and i was with him when his ex wife saw it for the first time and i tells ya, if looks could kill i would be seriously dead by now :p

p.s. for the record, i did actually try very hard to talk him out of getting the tattoo, i'm not a big fan on name tattoo's, but all the same, it is a nice tatt.

^^ one of my exes got my name tattooed "across his heart" when we were only together for seven mths. It was flattering and all but a bit psychotic!

I said that when we broke up (because i didn't think things would work out) his next gf would make him get it covered up and he was always saying that we wouldn't break up and if we did he wouldn't let another "bitch" (real nice bloked huh?) make him do anything.

I saw his sister in law a few mths back and we had a chat and she said he went back to his wife (who he divorced after we met) and has it covered up

I think it's hilarious =D

Yeah thats the problem with 'name' tatts - they may not always bare relevance to you in the future. I always advise people to try and pick something that will always have relevance or interest to you, and not a passing phase of something that looks cool at the time.

(in regards to name tattoos going wrong): I saw this happen at our studio many many times!!! One classic example was a guy was getting some chicks name done while she was moving out of his place to be with another guy the same day, which of course he didn't know. He came back in ASAP to get it covered up. heh

Moral of the story (as Haste said just before), THINK about what you are getting, it's there for a supposed lifetime. :)

again with the name tatts thing...i think that some names are different to others, such as children or other close family members. their names are something that are going to have a huge meaning to you throughout your whole life, even if something were to go wrong with the relationship. my opinion on getting your partners name tattooed on you is 'i don;t need to be married to know i love you, i don;t need my name tattooed on you to know that you love me'.

and as haste and wazza have so wisely said before me, it's going to be there forever, wether in it's original form or as a reminder...

My next tattoo is going to be based on this picture...

Of course it will be without the labels, in a circle around my right arm (bicep area). The backbone will be red with the base pairs blue and outlines in black...

i'm thinking about getting another tatt on my foot.

a fairly small one of a cluster of stars...but since my first tatt was something i wanted for ages i think i might wait a while and see if i still want it in another 6 months *just in case*

Ive got a few tattoos,

Ive got a pop art design that most people would know, its the one made of the word love, with the l and o on top of the v and e. But ive got it spread over both of my wrists so it really only makes sense when i put my wrists together, Its fun cos people always ask me what o e means (the two letters on my right wrist. Ive got a chinese character "chi" on my bicep, but its not a standard design, its quite large and bright red and done in a block style (hard to explain. Ive also got a traditional thai tattoo that goes accross the top of my back, that i got done at a monastery outside bkk. Ive got a few other fiddly ones too, icluding a star on one of my fingers. And to the people who asked b4, officially yes it is illegal to have your face or hands tattood, also the soles of ur feet if really strict, it dates back to an archane law that the king or queen owned all subjects hands feet and heads, kind of a similar concept to defacing coins etc. And teardrops on the face dont denote being a rat, in america it just means that uv done time, usually a teardrop per lagging. Here it was just another bad jailhouse tattoo. Ill post pics of my tatts, when i get a data cable for my phone, cos i cant seem to make the infra red work. My ex gf also has some piccies of me getting the one done in thailand, some video too, ill bite the bullet and get her to mail them to me.

Thanks Keystroke, Now I Can Go Image Happy

^^ all the names thing aside, that is pretty hot. is it in red ink or is that just the lighting??

and with the whole face tatts thing, i was remembering my friend who has most of his face tattooed, he has his forhead, cheeks, nose. he has traditional aboriginal drawings of animals and other traditional stuff (like corroboree circles and stuff). they look fucking amazing and he gets them recoloured pretty often.

personally i think they look amazing, and so beautiful. i can't imagine him without them and most of the time, i hardly even notice them. just don't ask him what they mean unless you're prepared to sit down and actually listen ;)

<3 u pirate :)
