body ink (merged)

I have one tattoo on my arm that I got back in 1992 and still love it as much today as I did back then - been thinking of another recently, but have yet to come up with a design that I would be pleased to have permantly.

My current tatt is an electric guitar and a mic stand crossed over to make an X - there's roses around it with a banner running up top and bottom with Music Is Life written on it :)

tatts rock!

I always liked the idea of getting a tattoo, so when the idea came up of getting a tattoo of my family crest (I have Scottish heritage), I jumped at the idea. My rationale behind it was that I would never regret my family crest as a tattoo, and it should hopefully carry alot of meaning for me.

I have had the tattoo a little over a year now, and absolutely love it. After getting one tattoo, I would love to get another. It's just a matter of thinking of something really worth while to get done.

It is high up on my left arm, just below the shoulder, and the writing on it means "Victory or Death". Fairly brutal I know, but hey, I guess my clan liked fighting people once upon a time.

Has anyone had their foot done? I hear that is quite the painful region.

Well not yet, but that is where im planning on getting mine.
Im planning on getting a dolphin on the arch of my foot (top)... so yeah its going to really hurt, but alas it looks pretty. Im going to have it done in blue and green... it will be aprox 5 cm long...
I saw a girl with it at Byron about a year ago, its so so pretty and yeah. That trip had significance with me when it comes to friendships and i just think the dolphin will be able to always let me remember the good and bad times... With the dolphin signalling the beginning of the good again...

I would like to get some sort of celtic tat but i havent found one that is for me yet... I love the tats on girls lower back above back, they are so sexy i dont care what people say...

Im just worried... i might get addicted once i start. Its happening with piercings lol... Tho i justify piercings with "i can always take them out"... u cant really with tats.

I was always [i/] of the opinion growing up that id NEVER get a tattoo, mainly because they are there forever and u cant just take it off when your sick of it. I think i thought this predominantly because my mum drilled it into me not to get a tatoo... but at that stage i only really associated tattoos with big men with the ugly coloured tats... And also i always thoguht i wouldnt get it done because i wanted to be an actor and yeah its not as accepted in that profession.

I've actually recently been really considering a tat, but with two restrictions: Its got to mean something to me, and seeing as it'll probably be on my body forever, its gotta be significant even when I'm a wrinkled old man (If I ever get that far)

I've recently been inspired by more H.R Giger work, more than anything, the whole biomechanical theme he so often included in his art (most recent example I can think of is the mike stand he did for korn. The whole spinal column thing)

The other avenue I've been considering has been something drawn up by myself or an ex-workmate. This guy was an absolute machine at creating tattoo art. Most impressive of all was the little voodoo man he had stamped on his shoulder (which I soooo wanted to steal off him)

a couple of rather large, yet interesting pieces off bmezine.com here and here

I'm sure I've said this before but I love tattoos (on other people - too chicken to get one but have thought about it heaps).

Saw a guy with a spiderweb tat on his tricep once - had a nice body, looked amazing, probably because I'd not seen anything like that before.

Tattoos (much like piercings) should complement the part of the body they're on.

More piccies please!!

i have always loved tatts and i got my first one done just before new years. i was with a very good friend/ex watching him get a cover-up done on his chest (which looked fucking amazing by the time it was finished). i was flipping through the books for ages and although i wasn't planning on getting one that day i just found one i really liked and which had a meaning i loved. i decided on a maori crossover symbol which symbolises friendship and love, the joining of two lives as one forever. i loved the meaning behind the symbol and it has alot of personal meaning for me.
it's high up on my left thigh, usually covered by my panty line.

i plan on getting many more, especially a skull'n'crossbones on my ankle (a nice cute one, not a tough one).

Raz, if you're ever in byron, try going to sharky's as they do heaps of custom tatts and have a lot of free-hand artists working there. i can't see them knocking anyone back because it's too finicky.

Moe - - - H.R.Geiger is amazing, and a tatt made in this vein would make for a truly wonderous tattoo...

Raz, is the dragon you're referring to like the one in the 'Never Ending Story'? It sounds a lot like it....
[I'm a *huge* fan of TNES, read the book about 87561654 times]

And Catax that's *such* a practical idea.......I wonder why I've never thought of it?
=Prints out image of Astro Girl and sticks it to everything she owns=
Now I have some chance of choosing something I won't be over in a month or two [especially considering I've had the Astro Girl idea for around three years now, hehe]. ;)

Uhm, on a side note, can anyone tell me exactly what this girl has had peirced? :\
< - - - Further edit, link no-worky, this girl, second from LEFT, on this. :)

i have a japanese character on my lower back for happiness, and it means good fortune in chinese and its pronounced "sex"

i wanted it for ages, and finally got the guts to go and do it...and although i *have* been slammed before on here for not being original, i love my tattoo and it means something personal to me...

*edit - tried to post a pic but it kept changing the font grrrr

^^ I think the asian characters are beautiful. I have the chinese symbol for love on my right ankle and to me it signifies what i had with my son's father and that he was made out of pure love. Also that i am a big believer of love itself in all shapes and forms :)

I have to admit though there are so many people with asian charachters on them that it kinda pisses me off because it makes mine less original but i still love it and it holds alot of meaning to me so i try and ignore that. :p

My first tattoo was of a butterfly on my right breast when i was seventeen (so that's nine years ago) I also can not believe how many girls i have seen with butterly tatts. I hate that because i got mine done AGES ago when hardly anyone was getting tatts even!! grrrr

The butterfly was put there after my son was born to represent new life ...his life and a new life for me :)

I also have a tattoo on my left ankle of a little purple flower with sunrays and a scroll with my son's name on it and my biggest tatt is on my right shoulder. It's about as big as a hand with fingers spread apart and it's of two dolphins jumping out of the water with the sunset behind it. This one symbolises the beauty and the fredom that is in this world and my absolute *luckiness* so to speak that i can enjoy it, be appreciative of it and experience it :)

It took four and a half hours to do in two sittings and it's very detailed and colourful. I love it =D

I have been planning on a fifth one for some time now to represent the change in the person i have become and my change in lifestyle and thought etc...so basically one that symbolises who *I* am. I have a pic of what i sortove want but it hasn't been perfected to how i want it yet and i'm not quite ready for it yet.....one day though ;)

I don't have any pics of them though. Wish i did :(

I LOVE tattoos. I think they are a beautiful artistic expression of many things and as long as they have meaning behind them i think they rock.

They are also VERY addictive...i'm so glad i don't have too much money because i would be covered in them by now i reckon 8o lol

I want to get the words "fallen" and "Angel" tattooed onto the soles of my feet. on the pad bit under my toes. I know it would probably hurt but I think it would be worth it.

this is my (semi) latest edition...

The pic isn't extremely clear, it's much darker than that.

I'm getting some more work done underneath it, not sure what yet.

RE: foot tats, my best friend and i are in the process of designing one that we're both getting on our foot. She has some wicked tatts...they're very rock-a-billy in style. She has 2 cherries on her wrist and an awesome 50's style pin-up-gir/she-devil under her right arm...wicked :) Will take some pics and post them when i see her next.
