Television Boardwalk Empire

I really liked Billie :( Oh, and holy hell Van Alden! I've been waiting for him to lose it all season and well, it was worth the wait.

^ Fuck yeah, did you see that smirk
Dudes gonna be an awesome gangster

Van Alden's story line is one of my favorites in the show
Also I like Sigrid and how she says alcovich (sp?)

That was a strange episode...

Anyway, I might be stating the obvious here but Gyp said he was going after all of the bosses, not just Nucky. My guess is that one of the other big shots gets whacked in this episode and the rest change their minds about associating with Nucky's plans. My only wonder at this point is if Rosetti ends up dead by the end of the season or if they wait until next year. Either way it should be satisfying.

Good scene at the end of that episode! Steve Buscemi's eyebrows should get their own emmy for that scene alone.

Kate Middleton is endearing herself to me once again. Hopefully we're done with the fecundity lectures sideshow and we can have her join the main plot once again!

Why is Youtube all retarted all of a sudden? I can no longer search by date, and once one search comes back empty, every subsequent search returns empty.

Only two episodes remaining...

Random thoughts that are probably over-analyzed: Last year the 10th episode was directed by Jeremy Podeswa and written by Dave Flebotte. In it Jimmy Darmody's lover Angela was murdered my Manny Horvitz, foreshadowing the eventual murder of Jimmy in the season finale...This year the 10th episode was written and directed by the same people and Margaret's lover was murdered. It seems unlikely but this might be an ominous sign for Margaret's future. Nucky is bound to be none too happy about the affair, and what could be more indicative a shift toward irreversible evil than killing his pregnant wife...

Who knows though. I was one of the very few that thought the show almost lost more by killing Angela than it did by killing Jimmy. There are a lot of dicks on this dance floor already and every time they create an interesting female character, they kill her off.

Still I can't wait to see how they finish off this season. It all went by so fast. *tear*

that episode was pretty much the most badass piece of TV i ever saw. also richard harrow is gonna go postal on that cunt. i think in this show he's easily both the most human and frightening character.

This season finale is going to be a bloodbath, beyond that I don't know what is going to happen. It looks like Richard Harrow is going to kill Gillian and possibly a number of other people. Perhaps he kills Rosetti in the process and finds himself on Team Nucky for season four. Or maybe he ends up killed himself in the process. Richard is one of my favorite characters and I really hope he lives, but they've sort of taken the disturbed-yet-wounded-and-shy-yet-indifferent-killer character as far as it could go. Honestly it wouldn’t surprise me if he ends up dead.

(please note that all of my predictions are always wrong so I'm just hoping to be wrong again here)

The more I think about it, the more I realize that Richard isn't going to make it past the season finale. He could never come to work for Nucky because Nucky killed Jimmy. I know that Richard told Nucky that he was 'safe', but it would still be way out of character for him to actually join up under his employment.

I guess finally he could join up with Capone. This is really the only situation I see as an actual possibility. Capone and Jimmy go way back, as do Richard's ties with Chicago.

Or maybe he rides off into the sunset with Julia and all is forgotten. But again this just wouldn't fit the character. Richard has led a tragic life and it sadly only seems fitting that he goes out in a tragic manner.

So there it is, unfortunately I think we will be seeing the last of the masked man Mr. Harrow.

i seriously hope they don't kill of richard. he's a wonderful character and is also so incredibly well acted, probably the best performance in a show filled with great performances. he and chalky have been my favorite characters from the get-go.
i think we all can agree that gillian is in for a harsh awakening. i've actually wondered when this would happen. she treated richard so shittily this whole season, when he is by far the most frightening character in a cast full of killers and sociopaths.

Quite the epic season finale. Loved seeing Capone behind a Browning 30 cal machine gun smoking a cigar, very much fits his real life persona. As was mentioned by another poster, Richard went out in a tragic but noble manner- killing a dozen people to save Jimmy's kid. Now that he has found a home for the kid, I imagine he's going to just drift away, which kind of fits his character and the whole "Lost Generation" issue.

I was disappointed at the Richard Harrow shooting scene. They really weren't trying to make it look realistic. I know they were just gunthugs, but NOBODY who finds himself in a firefight thrusts himself into a doorway and then points his gun. They peek around walls and clear their path before exposing their body. Seemed sloppy for such a punctilious show.

Best season of all time, but one more nit: I was hoping the guy who killed Gyp would say "Because I respect you" while he was doing it.

That was a lot to take in, so I'll watch it again and try to write up a response.

But wow that was a great season. Amazing that the show killed off their best character and then followed it up with their best season, and possibly the best season of television ever to my mind.
