d300?!

did you outgrow the d40 that quick and upgrade?
how long have you had that? i guess i havnt bee paying much attention around here...

great photo regaurdless.

I got the D300 back in June, I think it was. The D40 has just been collecting dust since. I figured I'd use it as a "back up" body since Ive been doing weddings and senior pictures these days but (thankfully) I havent had to fall back on it. There would be no point in selling it, they're so cheap brand new I wouldnt get much for it.

good for you. i would keep the d40 in the car with a full battery in case something happens or you happen to see something out of the ordinary. sometimes the strangest things happen when you dont have a camera. so its always good to keep one in your car.

damnit, theres a beautiful pure white moth outside my house just chillen and my cam just does have the rez...

Klue: I really like the bug in your pic!! What species is it?

It an Australian Cicada

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada

There are two species that I know of around where I live. When I was a kid I used to love putting them on the front of my shirt like a badge. They turn up every now and then in the summer months.

(so that means my pic is about 6 months old. 7th of Feb this year according to the metadata)

:)

IAMTHOUGHTS, that's ridiculously cool. Great angle!! I freakin' love taking photos of grasshoppers. One of my favorite subjects, and good thing, too. They're ALL over the place in Florida. Don't think mine will outdo yours, but my fav grasshopper:

Unfortunately photobucket effed with it and it's waay smaller than normal. Way more striking when it's beeeg! :\

^I really like that photo for some reason. If you send me the original I'd be happy to resize it to a larger size if you would like. It's part of my moderationalarial duties. :)

I don't know. I was hoping maybe someone else would go the non-literal route. But I really like some of these. Good job guys.

I was in my kitchen and just happen to see a large spider by are recycling corner. And i thought let me get a pic of this critter I know it's not a great shot but i thought what the heck... I'll submit it.

I don't kill spiders (unless they startle me) i can't seem to kill anything. I usually let them be or catch them and release them outside. Roaches and ants are another thing though lol

it's a good photo but spiders aren't insects ;)

Wow, lots of AMAZING entries this round. This might actually be the most difficult round to choose a winner!
