Bluelight weekly photography contest Round 63: Shiny Stuff

Well, either way, those are the shiniest nitrous bulbs that I've ever seen. The only ones that I've seen here are usually matte.

Oh, and BA: I really like the glint off of the diamond. Impressive.

Man, BushMonster, I wish I had thought of that first!

It's called "Cloud Gate" by Anish Kapoor (one of my favorite artists) and it's in Chicago's Millennium Park. Everyone here calls it the bean though.

The interior is pretty spiffy too.

*NOT MY PICTURES, NOT ENTERING IN CONTEST*

This is the view from closer in:

And this is what it looks like underneath looking up:

Yeh, I walked over to Millennium park at the weekend with my new camera and took one of the Millennium 'Bean' much like the bottom up shot but it didn't come out as awesome as I thought it would - just a confused mess, although it is still pretty interesting... I got a nice one of the 'sails' - whatever they're called which were nice and shiny as well! =D

^oooh, where and what is that cletus?
he's working away at the moment (he's my brother) but he tells me it's the Selfridges store at the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham, England.

here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Ring,_Birmingham

The Bullring Shopping Centre was masterplanned and designed mainly by Benoy. It features a dramatic landmark building, housing a branch of Selfridges department store to a design by the Future Systems architectural practice. The store is clad in 15,000 shiny aluminium discs[15] and was inspired by a Paco Rabanne sequinned dress.[16] The Selfridges store cost £60 million and the contractor was Laing O'Rourke. Covering an area of 25,000 m², the designs for the Selfridges store were first unveiled in 1999, not long before demolition of the original shopping centre began. The Selfridges store has won eight awards including the RIBA Award for Architecture 2004 and Destination of the Year Retail Week Awards 2004.

BTW, i have a loan of his brand new Canon EOS 400D for the next two weeks while he's away, so I'm determined to take a photo that will bite your shiny metal asses. :D

My entry this week is a little off from the others but a eclipsed moon and stars are pretty shiny..at least I think so. Besides we won't have another full lunar eclipse until December 2010.
