Bluelight Singles thread "Living without justification" Part 2

i definitely know that there are a few species of birds who only have one partner their whole lives and if that partner should prematurely die they never find or have sex with another partner again. anway, obviously we're not the same as birds, and i totally agree with all the stuff breakA said about the catholic church, it just got me thinking in a general sense, is all is all.

also isn't there a quote by someone that goes something along the lines of 'the opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.'? anyway, i like that, and i totally agree with it.
 
i'm still enjoying being single.... i love not having to answer to anyone but myself.. :D

although i am debating calling up my ex and trying to patch things up.... i've realised that there isn't anyone else out there as good as she was.... but.. do i keep looking for someone better???


but... i do have a little problem.. i'm as toey as hell, and i just imposed a "no skanks this financial year" clause on myself.... bah. this means i either need to find me a fuckbuddy or get into a relationship (cause, imho, a one night stand means that she is a skank.. :D)


but... back on topic, anna, i think you should wear a black top to your friend's tupperwear party.

do you really think a woman can't be toey and go out for a fuck without being a skank? surely the skank part is not her fulfilling her sexual needs, its the way she presents herself and goes about getting that fulfilment?

muzby: did this little epiphany about your ex being the best of a bad bunch result because you are toey as all hell, and because of your no skanks ban?

nostalgia/toey-ness/reflecting on what once was are killer reasons that make it easy to view exes through those rose-tinted glasses......i'm not sure of your exact situation of course, but i've been there (with the ex thing) and you really have to force yourself to remember what drove you apart in the end, or the bits you didn't like :\

also, i don't think there's anything wrong with constnatly striving for something[one] better - and imo, if you're having to even contemplate that, she's probably not the one for you :)

what's the deal with your one night stand = skank thing? not that i'm particularly in disagreeance, but does this mean that a girl who has sex with you on first meeting is a skank, therefore ruling her out as potential r/ship material or that you don't have sex on first meeting with people you actually like, therefore ruling out you having a one night stand with a potential g/f, or is it just some random general rule?

So a one night stand means that SHE is a skank? I'm sorry, I just spat my drink at my screen. I didn't realise we'd slipped back in time to the 1950s, I'd better go and get my tuxedo. Excuse me but WHAT THE FUCK? I had been under the apprehension that at some point in the last 40 years we'd got the whole sexual revolution and equal rights thing at least partly out of the way and I didn't attend the whole meeting but I'd thought at some point it was deemed okay for girls to want to have sex as much as guys, therefore I'm kind of perplexed by muzby's obviously horrifically chauvinistic statement.

Shit, don't get me wrong, there are skanks out there, but they're skanks because they're bitchy treacherous backstabbing swine who fuck on a first date, whore you for drugs, then sleep with your best friend. NOT because they have one night stands.

You know I like you alot will, but that's gotta be one of the shittiest things I've heard you say :(

Sorry, but I really fail to see the link between one night stand and skank. I see nothing skanky in a male and female (or whatever combination) having a night of no-strings attached sex simply because it feels good. Fair enough you may not want to date someone who's slept with you the first night you've met them, but I seriously don't see how someone you don't want to date = skank. I don't know what your opinion is of males who have one night stands, but that post smacks of a fundamental disrespect for women.

And what's the difference between a one night stand and a fuckbuddy? It's all casual sex imho 8)

what you choose to label the other person in a one night stand is purely up to you, if you've already concluded that you're not going to see them again past that one night, then call them fucking santa claus, since the stigma is all in your head.

you need to break down what constitutes a skank, it's a reasonably interpretable term. anyone wearing white pants down here gets smacked with the label.
 
also, i have a slight suspicion that old mate muzby might be stirring the pot, un peu???

and if not, then yes, what mean girl says is right - skank i guess is a subjective term.
 
I own white pants and I've slept with people on the first night I met them. I must be some sort of turbo-skank!

That being said, I have no problem with muzby saying that about women. I don't think it's any worse than Mean Girl's assumption that clothing does a skank make. They're both pretty harsh judgements of people they know very little about.
 
^^ i see you've jumped on the assumption bandwagon there by thinking i personally label these women as skanks! brilliant work once again!

have another read. i do not label these women as skanks , but they are nonetheless slapped with the name all the same (i can't think of a friday night out where i haven't seen someone called a skank if they wear white pants)

I guess I don't particularly like the idea of a person having a pre-conceived notion that a woman who would sleep with someone the first time they've met them = skank.

And I come at it with the perspective of skank being used as a pretty derogatory term in the social circles I grew up in, but yes, it's subjective.

So pending muzby's definition of a skank... ;)

[note to self, be more concise when drinking. a skank is a skank in the head, and evidently a contentious point of topic to other women when taken out of the head. therefore, everyone can learn from this and not call anyone a skank out loud if they wish to avoid further debacle. you're all now very welcome to continue. if it makes you feel any better, i don't discriminate, i just dislike everyone ;)
