my thoughts for today...
I havn't picked-up or gotten with a guy for months now, simply because i am so over the whole deal, I just don't want to go there anymore. I am over guys in the whole picking-up scene.
But at the same time I am not picking up anymore because I have come to the stage where I want to hold out for that special relationship.
But, my friend just threw me a thought, he said, but that's how you meet ppl- by picking up. But I don't know, I would *like* to think that special someone just gets thrown into your life. And you have no say, but no apprehensions about it. Because you know thats just what has to be :)
Or am I just a hopeless romantic who will get no where believing in fate?
 
I was just wondering how many of you are after a relationship and how many are just after sex?
It would be interesting to see the statistics of males and females on this too :P

YOU will see it man, this time i was for real, i feel ALIVE at the moment and of my previous feelings for myself i always took second best, I am so friendly with guys because i never expect them to want me, i dont think that much of my looks or appearance !
However the past 2 weekends ive been out at raves i have been hit on by 8 different guys, maybe its all not that bad afterall, maybe i could have a relationship........... MEBE ;)
I dont think im going to go back to stoner dick, my weed smoking has been cut to less than once a week maybe thats because i have the flu lol ... nah im for real want to make a bet for $$$ or for anything challenge me boy i dare you!

I don't think it's what they say as much as how they say it. I'm impressed by intelligent, witty, confident but humorous people who can speak articulately and are sure of themselves. I don't particularly care if they talk about themselves or ask questions, as long as they can communciate well, and the more honest they are, the more I'm impressed.
It also depends on the person though. For example if a smart, cropped, well dressed man with thick-rimmed glasses comes across that way, well I'm not really that impressed, but as long as they have a sense of humor I don't mind chatting. But for example, if I get the same from a tall, thin blonde wearing knee high go-go boots, well I do tend to look twice then. I guess I like being surprised as much as being impressed.

Yeah, you do meet people by picking up, but if you're holding out for that special relationship, the people you pick up aren't likely to turn out to be after the same thing. I'd suggest swapping numbers with people you want to get to know better, if they're after more than a quick hookup, then they'll chase you up. If it's meant to be, it'll happen, kissing or going home with them isn't going to bring it about though.
If I met someone who I really, really liked, the last thing I'd do is pick them up actually. Their number and discussion of a future meeting would be much more useful.

Man thats the sad thing about alcohol, you always have to apologise for something the day after - or be prepared to lose friends.
I know the meetup thing has been tossed around before, and yeah it all comes down to 995758 guys and 3 girls - not a good mix.
Im crawling back into bed now. :(

As to the whole 'special someone' thing, bel, your friend has something of a point, that's for sure. I guess its not like the 'special relationships' are outside the circle of dating, and 'picking up' and all that. Which I'm starting to realise.
If you don't play the game, I guess your chances of winning are going to be zero. The odds might be shit, the game might be rigged, but that's the only way that you have any chance of winning. I've been single with no involvement whatsoever with any member of the opposite sex (or the same sex for that matter) for about 6 months now. I'm used to being single, its like a pair of shoes, worn in and now I'm almost worried that its more easy to stay like this, in that kind of limbo between emotions, than to commit to someone and go out on that limb.
But its not like anyone's shown any interest in my white ass anyway. ;)

heh, if i had to choose between the two, no way i could just go with sex.. id much rather the emotional attachments and companionship that comes with relationships.. what can i say i like to hold hand and snuggle :P

I've thought about it. But I couldn't live in Melbourne. It's too cold. Thinking maybe I'll meet someone on one of my jaunts down there though. Then I can convince them to move up here with me ;)

I haven't been down there since I met you candyflip! Anyway I think when I go down there it's better for me to harrass mona and stay with her than impose my living habits on anyone else ;)
 
never posted in this thread before and i cant be arsed reading the whole thing but: I've been single for 5 friggin' years.
 
Alrighty...I AM the same guy as Darkblade who hasn't posted in many many moons, I lost my old password and my email addy has changed :(
BUT anyway...I have become single again :( Woe is me. It has been 6 weeks now and I have finally accepted the fact that it's all over after 3 years, some good some bad, a lot of work. So all you Perthite girls better watch out! Tee hee hee! Just jokes ;)
It actually goes against my nature to pick up. Everytime I've picked up I have had trouble with big old mr konnish. He never seems to get as excited as I feel. Of course, despite my amazingly good looks, my witty charm and my superb dress sense ;) I have only picked up twice before.
I really feel that I need to care about someone before I can shag them.
Wierd huh?
PS: If anyone knows any really nice, fun, intelligent, ubersexy girls (aged up to 27) who dress funkily and have few inhibitions who like baby faced funky pretty boys, please, please send them my way :)
