Well i've been single for a while (too long to mention).
Being patient can be a total pain in the butt...but i like to think i can wait for that special someone, shit i may have already met her and don't even know it yet...hmmmmmm.

It doesn't matter how it works, or what other people think. Love simply IS. Often you don't have a choice, and only you, and if you're lucky, someone you love who loves you, know exactly what it is between you.
At times it seems that this thread should just be titled "Philosophy of love and relationships". Hey, it might make it more informative.
Anyway, I am definately no longer officially permitted to be here. That does of course not preclude me from posting.
I think an important thing for everyone to remember is that often when you look for something, even when telling yourself you aren't, it won't happen. It's when you understand, and move on with your life, that life will surprise you with a slap in the face.
If you're single, and have no choice about it, and lets face it, despite all the talk I know 99% of you would rather be in a relationship. Don't be depressed about things YOU can't change!!! While you mightn't love being single, just take each day as it comes.
Also, sometimes it's good to remember that being in a relationship can cause pain too.
I'm just talking out my ass here, so bite me. But seriously I hope I've given some people some food for thought.
The only important thing is that if you love yourself, you can love someone else, anything else doesn't work. Use being single to explore yourself, self discovery is so valuable that you shouldn't waste an opportunity like being single.

Paraphrasing what Plazma said, you can't choose who you fall for, and I have a belief in not holding my emotions back in these situations, which invariably gets me into trouble. Love passionately and sincerely and all that. Maybe I hoped I could change his mind (so to speak), cos I saw so much possibility in what we had. Hell, even he saw that. But he's been burned before too, and while I don't tend to let it dampen my enthusiasm when I get into a new relationship, he goes into one protecting his feelings from the outset. So it's off to Canada without me, but with my friendship and a big piece of my heart (although in my bitter moments I do feel he copped out big time ).
Yeah, love is scary. But it's beautiful, and full of hope, and some people have even been known to take drugs to emulate the feeling *gasp*. Hmmm... maybe I'll go back to flirting for a while now, hehehe... love will find me again. Or maybe some casual sex'll do for now.
And Chemical Night: I totally agree with you. the grass is always greener for a lot of people. Problem is when you keep jumping over that fence, the grass patch behind you goes brown and dies, or something, so if the grass wasn't greener on the other side, the original patch ain't going to be green when you get back either!... or something...
