It depends on which backbone the ISP of the host is using and which ISP you're on.
A quick tracert shows that from my box, outta my connection (which I've removed so not to incriminate myself) it actually goes to the UK and then Russia.

That's just a simple example (can't really do a lot since I'm on my Windows box atm)
As stated previously, there is no encryption being using on this site, it's straight HTTP (no SSL) so keep in mind that everything going back and forth is in plaintext.
