Nobody wants to see my bare white ass! ;)

I thought about winterizing my bike after the ride we did last weekend...150 miles in the cold and rain, I have never been so cold in my life. I told my mom I would never take heat for granted again!

My dad talked me out of winterizing so early though, I'm glad he talked me out of it because I am doing another group ride tomorrow! <3 Pics to follow.

too right. it does get cold here in the winter, obviously, but now and again you get a beautiful dry day, perfect for riding. i would hate to have my bike laid up when i could be out on her! :D

p.s. i'll decide if i want to see your ass, ok?

I don't have a garage. So leaving it out all winter is out of the question. I store it at the dealership. It's always tough to figure out when to bring it in. Wait too long, and I have to ride through snow to bring it on. Last weekend wa kind of chilly, so I made an appointment. it turned out to be warm and sunny this weekend. Oh well 8)

I 2nd that

This weekend was fucking GORGEOUS!! I did a charity ride down in Massachusetts and got to do a ride with 3000 other bikers. All I can say is: IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!

I think my parents might have snapped a few pics of me (sorry...I was wearing my jeans in them even though I was wearing my chaps! :)) But here are a couple that I took:

Here's a couple of me at the rally that I went to last weekend:

3000 bikes!?! 8o

holy shit. that must've been an awesome spectacle.

no windshield on your bike? fuck that, you must be made of sterner stuff than me!

It was absolutely insane and I loved every second of it!!! The sound of everyone starting their bikes and revving up was pretty indescribable.

No windshield for me, it's probably going to be my next investment though because I am itching to get a GPS system and a stereo speaker system at some point in the future (hopefully by next summer) and I think that the windshield will offer some protection to some expensive electronics.

aye, a GPS is awesome for a bike.

can't remember if i've posted this before, but here's my setup as posted in my bike forum:

Finally got myself sorted out with a GPS. After our Euro trip last year we swore we wouldn't do it again without one. The memory of our little faux pas in Geneva that caused us to be lost for about 3 hours in the dark - eventually resorting to hiring a taxi to lead us to our hotel - still haunts me yet...

Anyway! One Tom Tom One (v2) UK & Europe, with full street mapping all over Europe - £200 from Comet. (You can get it even cheaper online from Amazon etc. but I just HAD to buy one that day... :P) Plus a nice carry case from ebay for under a tenner:

One handlebar mount from ebay - £18 delivered:

It's not waterproof, so using the following ingredients:

... one ghetto fabulous custom-made rainsuit ;)

All in all I am delighted with this setup. Who needs to spend a fortune on a bike-specific unit? This does it all, I think.

Still need to fit a 12V power outlet to the bike though, cos the battery life on this one is only a shocking 2 hours. I had it in my head it was 8 hours when I bought it. Ah well, I always wanted one anyway.

:)

and an update on the battery life: it's completely dead and always needs to be plugged into the power socket.

I don't think you've posted that before but that is a pretty sweet set up!!!!

I like how compact it all is. The "ghetto raingear" for it is a pretty crafty idea s well.

I looked at some waterproof systems and the vendor I was looking at wanted like $600 or something crazy!! 8o

Ahhh you have 6 gears!!!

My bike has 5 and I am forever trying to put it in that non existent 6th gear. LOL

What's the fastest you have gotten up to?
heh, i'm always looking for 7th!

about 120 or thereabouts.

How many daughters out there get to rip it up with their moms out on the open road?

I went for a ride with my mom yesterday, it was just the two of us and it was a lot of fun. She rides a little 1981 (?) Honda CB400...it's an automatic, only two gears. I've never ridden the thing but I should take it for a little spin.

I hope that yesterday wasn't the last of the nice days that we have out there *sigh*

Just a little b to the u to the m to the p

I didn't want this little gem falling off the front page :)

I still haven't winterized my bike, I'm not sure if I will at all. I just gotta drag my ass out into the cold shed and start her up every once in awhile :)

me too. that's all she needs!

haven't been out on the bike for AGES, what with being away and the cold weather and me being a pussy and all. but she fired up straight away, same as always. you'd think she'd be in a sulk after such neglect, but no. good girl <3.

treat 'em mean and keep 'em keen, right? :D

That is correct.

I haven't started my bike in close to a month. Sometimes it takes her a few minutes to get started, I let out the choke and roll on the throttle a few times and I can usually get her to start.

I actually saw a motorcycle out on the road today while I was driving. I checked the temp from my car and it was 32 F out!! Screw that nonsense!! :)
