...it further encouraged my use and curiosity in drugs.
There are many people who come to this site and get worth while information, but I'd like to know that once you have that information does the temptation to do more get stronger? Is Bluelight actually doing a public service or is it furthering the decline of individuals.
A little bit of back ground on myself. I moderated DC for a few years all the while maintaining a serious opiate addiction and finishing my bachelors. I want to hear your thoughts on this matter, is this really beneficial?
Huh! Well what do you know? Interestingly enough, I moderate DC now, and I'm now maintaining an opiate addiction and finishing up my bachelors.
Anyway... it's my understanding that most of our members here have, at one time or another, been exposed to the scruff-mcgruff, just-say-no, all-drugs-are-bad, junior-high-health-class sort of "drug education." In other words, it's all of the information, oftentimes
misleading information, aimed at frightening and turning people off from drugs.
If, for whatever reason, an individual finds that he is still interested in experimenting with mind-altering, sometimes habit-forming and addictive substances, as many of us here very clearly are, then that person will go ahead and do one of two things: he will seek out and take those substances
without having any of the solid, factual, potentially life-saving information that BL believes in making widely available, or he will seek out that information
first and will
then make a more informed decision, choosing either to take the drug or drugs now armed with this new information, or, perhaps, even choosing
not to take the drugs. We can only hope for the latter scenario, of course... as it results in what we call "harm reduction."
I can understand where one might think or believe that, after discovering this board, his or her interest in drugs increased and so this is a bad thing -- harm, in fact, and not harm-reduction; but really, it's sort of a skewed way of looking at the situation because, truth be told, you're here because you already had a growing interest in mind-altering substances whether your interest brought you here to BL or somewhere else. Right?
I mean, let's be honest... you didn't believe any of that bullshit they told you in school, and neither did any of the rest of us. You were still interested in drugs, and so were we. You wanted better, more scientific, factual information... and here it is. You might not have heard about, sought out, come across or taken any of the still somewhat-obscure research chemicals we talk about here. (Eh, you still might have...) But you might not have even made it that far were it not for a better understanding of how benzos potentiate opiates into a potentially lethal combo. Do you see what I'm getting at? And that's harm reduction, that's the good stuff, that's what we're after...
tl;dr ... yeah I drank the kool-aid and believe in harm reduction.
