Yeah there should have been a few more free kicks going carltons way. The new in the back rule is bullshit. They pinged Carlton for it all night , yet when Mcveigh took a screamer they didnt do shit. Its a fucked rule. Freekicks 23 for essendon 13 for carlton ??

Your not even allowed to push in the side when jostling for the front the position to take a mark. Its the stupidest rule they've bought in for awhile. Blatent in the back , no worries but when someone slightly touches them on the way to a screamer that is stupid.... They will fuck this game.
they will...? free flowing game play is already being disrupted by this. I think as far as this season goes its up to the umps to use common sense and consider the game play before penalising
Headlands problem is going to be proving that Selwood actually said those things. So far no other players or officials have come out in support saying 'yeah I heard him say it' and the footage makes it really difficult to confirm exactly what may have been said via lip reading etc.
as far as i know lip reading is not honoured as admissable evidence in these matters so I wouldn't be surprised if the AFL slap Selwood with some type of minor fine as a goodwill gesture and heap a good 5 weeks on Headland, after all regardless of what was said, Headland DID actively pursue Selwood and assault him... that much is a given

Maybe im on my own here, but i would beat the shit out of someone if they said anything about my kids (not that i have any, but if i did) even if it was meant as part of a sledge. I think if thats what he actually said it went to far. There are so many more ways to sledge without involving family etc.
I agree that if Selwood knew that tattoo was of Headlands daughter and he DID say those things then he really has problems and needs to have a good long hard think about it.
But from looking at the tattoo its kind of hard to distinguish if it looks like a child or not. Taunting a player about having sex with his wife or girlfriend is very common. Headland refused to discuss the matter with Selwood, who btw offered the olive branch on numerous occaisons in an attempt to explain himself.
lastly I agree that Headland reacted in a way we all would if we believed someone was making grotesque sexual comments about our own child, but you have to pay for your actions when you subscribe to the rules.
Headland obviously got the benefit of the doubt last night, however it was more likely that the AFL didn't want to inflane the situation by slapping a suspension on him. End result, problem on hold... to be worked out at the next derby!

I think this issue can be seen both ways, and i think that calling a 6 y.o girl is innappropriate but then where do you draw the line with sledges? They are meant to get inside your head. I believe that he said it though, but the only reason its come out is because headland couldnt restrain himself.
But i do think that Selwood is a good guy whereas Headland is a fucking nut job.
Im glad it got dropped and nothing came of it because its not right for all these fucking family groups getting involved in a game of football. But anyway its over and done with now...
