blogsblogsblogs v. Give UAN something to do

You're the best, samadhi! I know nothing about photography and hadn't even heard of those cameras. I'm going to buy one - they're so cheap. Can anyone recommend which is the best or things I should look out for?

I'm just having a look on ebay and there seems to be a few variations...

Jo: Thanks for the link! I think the reason I liked polaroids though was because you couldn't do touch ups. It was just point and shoot and there you go. The polaroid project seems like such a hipster thing to do. :D

:D

I am only new to the Holga thing - I've no idea what to get myself! A friend of mine has a Holga, i'm going to pick her brains, and i'll report back.

For the lomography effect that COTB posted about, you can get a fisheye lens from Holga :)

I just found www.lomography.com

and here is a link to all things Holga:

Check out the website for Diana products - it seems like it's a great replacement of Polaroid, you get fantastic soft, lo fi images in about 90 seconds. :)

I'd be interested to know what she says. I've been doing a bit of reading about it but it's hard to tell what would actually be the best for a novice because they're all such purists!

I think I'm just going to get the basic Holga 120N, then get colour filters, fish eye lens and an external flash as I learn more. From what I've seen, it's relatively easy to adapt for 135 film as well.

I'm excited! I haven't had a hobby since my sticker collection circa 1990.

So they're really not making polaroid film any more, full stop? That kind of sucks because I have a polaroid camera. Admittedly I haven't used it in years.

^ Yeah they stopped a while ago. Sad times.

lnf: The thousand series is awesome. It was always a welcome addition to my inbox on a work day. I used to read threethousand but it just made me depressed about how much cool shit goes on in Melbourne.

No polaroid is a sad development. There isn't even a source of NOS product

I always wonder if there is a pallet of film sitting buried in an old warehouse somewhere

^^If there is it would be worth a fortune on ebay! I'm waiting for UAN to get her Holga then might invest myself. In the meantime I just use poladroid as recommended by C0TB. But it isn't the same...

Let's get medical!

Street Anatomy is a blog that looks at the use of human anatomy in art and design, it sounds a bit dry and/or weird, but it's actually quite addictive....I could see myself wasting hours looking through their archives quite easily....

Polite Dissent is one of my favourites as well (though I haven't checked it out for ages)....the guy that writes PD is a doctor, and he discusses the use of medicine in tv shows and comics etc and how valid it is....he's always talking about episodes of House, and it's interesting seeing how much research writers and artists have really done when it comes to this stuff. :)

Fortunately, while I was once again chipping away at her pelvis one day, she stopped me mid-coitus, pulled my face down close to hers, and whispered softly in my ear "Talk to me... ...I want you to talk to me."

Bewildered, I asked "About what?"

"Just talk to me," she said.

"Well, yesterday my mom made me change the oil in her car, and. .... ..."

=D haha... some classy guys on that blog.
