blogsblogsblogs v. Give UAN something to do

^ haha Is that because I'm really classy? :D ;)

This blog isn't something I'd normally care about because it's entirely fashion related, but I've found myself addicted to it.

http://tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com/

She's a 12 year old obsessed with fashion and is one of the most articulate, interesting bloggers, let alone 12 year olds, I've ever read.

Seriously, when did kids get so amazing? It's so well written that I googled her because I couldn't believe she was only 12, but from what I've read it seems legit.

I have been reading ^^Style Rookie for about a year and it's amusing to see how much she has changed in that time. She's selling out man...it used to be about the passion. But yeah, she is awesome for a 12 year old!

^haha Yeah she wrote a comparative post recently with a collage she'd made when she started and a more recent one, kinda laughing at how she's changed/ become a brand whore. Anyway, as I said, even though I'm not that interested in fashion and have no idea what she's talking about most of the time, I find her kinda fascinating.

I didnt cry, but those photos are just beautiful. As is the story. On another note, that website design is perfect. I love the package.

Amazing. And it reminds me of *something* I saw *somewhere* once but I can't remember where :X

Stories about Alzheimer's sufferers always choke me up. That link is great. I wish there were more stories! I'm thinking about signing up for when the book comes out.

I remembered what I was thinking of - this blog post about this website

He Took a Polaroid Every Day, Until the Day He Died
by Chris Higgins - May 21, 2008 - 3:30 PM

Yesterday I came across a slightly mysterious website — a collection of Polaroids, one per day, from March 31, 1979 through October 25, 1997. There’s no author listed, no contact info, and no other indication as to where these came from. So, naturally, I started looking through the photos. I was stunned by what I found.

^Oh I've seen a few of those types of sites after stumbling through StumbleUpon. That's a really cool one, though.

This is exactly why they shouldn't have stopped making polaroid film. A polaroid is a true snapshot. It just wouldn't work as well if someone trawled through photos on a digicam to do the same thing.

I've found it quite interesting looking through people's 365 sets on flickr and yeah, while it's interesting to see a photo for each day, it's obvious that these days you can take 50 photos and then just pick the most interesting/flattering, which kind takes away from the point of the project.

UAN: Holga cameras, while not Polaroid by any stretch, give a very similar older look photo.

You're the best, samadhi! I know nothing about photography and hadn't even heard of those cameras. I'm going to buy one - they're so cheap. Can anyone recommend which is the best or things I should look out for?

I'm just having a look on ebay and there seems to be a few variations...

Jo: Thanks for the link! I think the reason I liked polaroids though was because you couldn't do touch ups. It was just point and shoot and there you go. The polaroid project seems like such a hipster thing to do. :D

Yeah that's what I figured. But you could, you know, put the polaroid border on and just not do touch ups :p

There's also Lomography, a style my friend is really into. It gives a kind of fishbowl effect that's interesting. :)

If you're wanting proper advice rather than random secondary sources, maybe try the photography thread on Second Opinion? :)

PS - Jo that polaroid touch up program is amazing! I'm so downloading that, thankyou! :D<3
