Black tar; the dark end of the street.

the damage they show in those pics is accurate

you can acctually damage the tip of the needle just pushing it into the cotton to filter your solution

when i have lots of fresh needles i use one tip to draw up with and then i switch to a fresh one to inject

you dont need a fresh one each time you draw up but every time you inject is a good idea

Wow, i just got done watching the documentary, It was great, although VERY Depressing. Shows what Black Tar H does to people and what they have to do to maintain their constant highs, or they are sick as hell.

It was a good watch, depressed me, but very good.

Tar must be really hard on your veins. I mean i know ppl who have been shooting dope for over 10 years and can still hit in their arms.

that shit was really shocking. But yeah, I think some of those ppl may have emotional/behavioral disorders, b/c it seems that i have a bigger habit than a lot of those ppl, and yet i am a senior in college. I feel kinda stupid trying to convince myself that im "better" than them, b/c i mean, im a junkie too. its just really scary to see ppl live such a dangerous, meager existence. it makes me wonder if i could hit a bottom like that in order to keep using.

oh, and yeah, i really wish we had a needle exchange program here. i mean, i dont use with anyone else so i dont have to worry about sharing, but i haate reusing needles. its so much harsher on my arms.

That was a really powerful film though.

I would like to add on to this. Besides my heroin problem and despite maybe a little depression I am a pretty normal person all around. Once my parents had enough of my shit and stealing to support my habit they kicked me out of the house and I spent about 5 months in downtown los angeles as a homeless heroin addict. You would be suprised the sacrafices people will make to keep using and how far a person can sink just from drugs alone. I was doing the whole nine yards on the homeless deal as well ie. panhandling, sitting on freeways with homeless signs, sleeping on a piece of cardboard in a parking lot, pushing around shopping carts etc. Living on the streets really isnt that bad when you are constantly getting high and your only concern is to make money to stay high. You are pretty filthy( i showered like once a month if that) and you really arent part of society but I am just ttrying to show how even a pretty normal person can be lowered to that level due to drug addiction. I did meet some really cool genuine people on the streets who due to circumstances ended up on the streets.

^^I'm glad someone chimed in on this. I spent a good deal of time homeless in Phoenix, hopelessly addicted to heroin and smoking a fair bit of crack. It was not fun by any means, though being high all the time was alright. :)
