Black metal!?

^Bear in mind that the music isn't meant to be all that serious. I mean, you have grown mean talking about nebualr frost and ravenwinters- WTF?? Sounds good though.... I mean, Immortal who I think are the best black/death metal act, Abbaths voice sounds like a frog croaking. The make-up is ridiculous. But remember that Blackmetal is massively tied into punk, which is a pretty colourful style.....

It seems to always happen to me, I listen to all my black metal records again, start d'ling and buying more before I realise I really only like about 5 bands in the scene, and maybe ten songs by other artists in the genre. That said, the good songs in black metal have changed my world, Inno A Satana by Emperor will forever haunt me :) Really, I think the best Black metal lbums were the last three by Immortal- and they were nicely produced thrashy-death-black metal albums. Black metal, as a standalone genre, is very limiting.

Anteus - Blood Libel is fucking incredible. Really raw, blisteringly fast and heavy black metal.

I been listening to Heresi and Spektre a lot this week.

Overall tho i think most black metal sucks except for a few 10 or 20 or so bands. Im a big death metal head.

check out silencer guys, really insane black metal, literally. the guy is a mental patient at a psychiactric ward. "death, pierce me" is one of the best things to happen to black metal.
Also, vlad tepes, weakling, mutiilation, targeist...

THE SPELL WAS CAST
AND THE SKY TURNED RED
AND THE ANGELS ALL FELL TO THE GROUND!!!

i tried that in my blackest of blackmetal voices, i swear

^Yeah, I've been listening to to much BM at the minute, at high volumes and screaming along (as well as rather sad attempts at recording my own "stuff") and its made bong-smoking hard. Utterly unworth it (the singing). :D and anyway, what you wrote would be said thusly, in BM speak- "The spell was cast, the sky turn, and angels all fell to ground"...it has to make as little sense ass possible. As we know, the damn no more rises, though tragedy blows at horizon. Hahwehawh

For all the black metal silliness, its a good style with more trash then quality by far. The production can be good at times, in the sense that it adds "mystery" to the music but more often then not it simply disguises awful musicians. Immortal are absolute legends IMO- I don't think they were ever really serious, just young and imaginative....A great metal band.

What do you guys think of Deicide? I know they would be considered death metal, but the christ-raping lyrics certainly darken it....I gotta say, Glen Benton is a fucking twat with his satanic 'views', though rather funny at times- anyway, Serpents of the Light is a fucking good album even though it makes me wanna kill myself :) I guess the music would be less intense if it wasn't for the brutal lyrics, but- they are really lame :\ Great music though; shite vocals.

Deicide is kinda awful. a matter of taste, though. saw Glen with Vital Remains, seemed to have a bit more intensity, still something about him. he has said so many things over the years, its hard to take him seriously. gotta give him credit nonetheless.

Hes a fucking nut....nice deep voice though, I like deicides production, music, singing...the lyrics enhance the violent music but Bentons a freaky fuck, utterly ignorant really.

dude deicide kicks fucking ass.listen to scars of the crucifix.they do have lame song names like bible basher, fuck your god, kill the christian, mad at god, christ dont care, and death to jesus.its kinda funny though.vital remains is better

^Er, I really thought Scars of the Crucifix sucked to be honest....I prefer his normal deep voice as opposed to the skrieking/growling combo thing.

I watched a Cradle ov Filth DVD last night- 11 Burial Something-or-others- released just after Midian- in other words, right when they were shit. Still, I will say that their first three albums were fantastic, a bit of Cruelty and The Beast and I also liked parts of Bittersuites to Succubi....Dusk and Her Embrace is such an emotional album, tis wonderful. Beyond that, they are shite.

Behemeth are great.

somehow using the word 'tis' while praising a cradle album just fits too well. but i do like that record. cradle are still gay tho, just to cover my kvlt ass.

^Sadly I use tis quite regularly perhaps as a bleedover from listenining to too much gothic fagottry. Yeah their gay of course good music but I hate them and shit
