Your giving it to an individual who is selling bitcoins, the site can probally see yes what you are sending, but your dealing with just another bitcoin dealer not the actual website.

Is the road still in action if Freedom Hosting has been huckled for child porn?

Ceres, why do you take mad smug delight in all this shit eventually going tits up? I don't really see why it's a good thing.

better not do, as ive jst made quite a subsantiual transfer. It was getting embarrasing having to say to people "can you save me some till Wednesday when my funds come through" etc.

I decided id had enough of all that and gone for a reasonable sum of money. Not thousands, just a little bit of loose change in the grand scheme of things....

Politics aside I'm just interested in seeing how tor breaks down. When your traffic / data is mixed up with other peoples that has child porn in it, this is what happens...and one of the reasons why I've never used tor.

If I'd used tormail or anything else connected with freedom hosting I'd be pretty worried at the moment...

It means his tin foil hat investment paid off.

ha ha. It's not so tin foil hat when you see stuff like this actually happening. Yeah I agree, inevitable.

Nah, all the major TOR drug websites remain un-damaged. Obviously have there own hosting, and not using the hosting company of some cunt who lets child porn on his servers, oh well.

Aye, you're not wrong. It is inevitable.

Was the road not on freedom hosting then? I can't say I'm bothered they got shut down. It's a good thing tbh, seems as though they were quite happily hosting some proper dodgy shit and getting paid.

Edit - Just seen this

Good. Fuck that guy.

tormail was on the servers so now the authorities can spend as long as they like getting into it and rifling through peoples mail that was stored on it, and who knows where that might lead them.

Does (or did) every drug buyer use tormail then? that could hurt. I set up a Tor node once, ran it for half an hour and did a google search. Was slow as fuck at the time, never went further.

I fucking hate Mt Gox and everything they do, but more importantly what they DONT do

how is it still the most popular exchange? They control the price of btc alongside faggots like bitinstant like they are fucking OPEC and have access to a valuable commodity

they have access to a bunch of fucking numbers that only are worth shit because of people like us, and the people WE associate with, not because of some fucking algorithm

buf I feel like im in the minority right now and until more people accept this shit for what it is and not for what it could be if every government in the world laid down and took losing money in their own jurisdiction, more progress would be made

but for now its just "well maybe if a shitty ass website adds my coin it will go up .000000whogivesafuck /btc and then be right back to the same number before the real people trading get a chance to do shit because 40 thousand bots just pumped and dunped faster than a Dutch whore

its not the coin that matters its the services you can spend it on. we are reaching the limit of Bitcoins potential because the more it grows the more governements will crack down on it because up until this point it hasnt been worth their time or resources to do so

fuck
fuck
fuck

everybody

Correct, although thats only because there needs to be a clear challenger to BTC, and Litecoin is the closest atm.

Its not a perfect coin either, nothing ever will be, but it learned from the faults of Bitcoin and isnt trying to be something it is not (at least atm)

Im also in the small-scale GPU mining demographic, so excuse my bias.

Tormail getting compromised will hurt a lot of people, pretty much yeah if you werent using the road, then tormail was your thing.

Its only a matter of time yeah, unless the guy running it just fucks off with everyones money. Anyway it wont end because then there will be a massive gap in the market and some others will just fill it.

They attempted to open a Twitter account, it got (the Road) and it got shut down within about 2 hours. Other drug websites allowed to keep there twitter accounts and youtube advertisements though, suspicious as fuck.

thats all Im tryig to say, the services that carry bitcoin will neve be allowed to operate without anonymity

By breaking out into "mainstram society ", you are only fooling yourself into thinking everyone else has the same amount of faith in Bitcoin whch due to the anonymous nature of it , will never happen

There's either good cryptocurrencies or wannabe real world currencies and Bitcoin is having a major identify crisis now

Yeah, I don't particularly have a problem with the currency, it's more that nowhere legitimate-looking seems to accept it.

The places to spend them at aren't going to jump out at you though, you have to dig a little bit. Btc was the first of its kind and therefore had a lot of developers for it which helped it grow in popularity (among other things) and now, instead of realizing that Scrypt-based coins just make more sense all around, you got people still clinging to Btc trying to recreate what happened from the first block to the $266/BTC mark. There's just too many alternatives now, and while people may only be mining them right now to trade for bitcoins anyway, it only takes a couple of legit services to pop up that makes people start spending their coins. This is turn hammers home the idea that the coin itself doesn't even matter, because goods will always be tied to how much they cost in fiat currency. You are just providing a means to an end for a customer and the merchant. Bitcoin got popular because it fit the criteria needed to facilitate the one thing every country in the world has in common, drugs. The criteria being that it was anonymous and the total supply impossible to manipulate because of the sliding difficulty scale.

This is really what all currencies are, a means to an end, but at least they have like faces and countries and stuff to back them up

Bitcoin doesn't have shit
