Bitcoins

Who the fuck hosts sites on TOR?! That's fucking stupid. I still don't see how they'll catch the SR guys, though. They'll host their own site, and will be well protected. I don't think it's panic time, yet.

Creator and Founder of Bitcoins quite shady though no? Goes under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, although no one actually knows who he really is. I read somewhere recently there is still a large amount of coins that wont be mined, ie are his that are taken ready to cash in at any time, think it was within the $10-$15m, not counting what already he has made.

There are no records of Nakamoto's identity or identities prior to the creation of Bitcoin. On his P2P foundation profile, Nakamoto claimed to be an individual male at the age of 37 and living in Japan, which was met with great skepticism due to his use of English and his Bitcoin software not being documented nor labeled in Japanese.
British formatting in his written work implies Nakamoto is of British origin. However, he also sometimes used American spelling, which may indicate that he was intentionally trying (but failed) to mask his writing style, or that he is more than one person.
The first release of his original Bitcoin software is speculated to be of a collaborative effort, leading some to claim that Satoshi Nakamoto was a collective pseudonym for a group of people.
Investigations into the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto have been attempted by The New Yorker and Fast Company. The New Yorker arrived at Michael Clear, a young graduate student in cryptography at Trinity College in Dublin, who was named the top computer-science undergraduate at Trinity in 2008. The next year, he was hired by Allied Irish Banks to improve its currency-trading software, and he co-authored an academic paper on peer-to-peer technology

All weird though, why remain anonymous. Says his work is strictly "politically motivated" though, same sort of attributes of the leader of the road really no one think? He does post regularly about the government and spoken of anarchism (road owner) Maybe im just speculating because im bored, funny though to think about.

.. It other news BitBargain not asked me for any ID, someones pressing them though to make them start asking new users, like every other firm hope they dont go tits up. MTGox used to be so easy now its impossible without sending in a copy of your life.

that's because mtgox sucks man, there's no other way to put it

but their horrible business practices are only nudging more people towards other exchanges actually keeping up with modern times which is a good thing in the long run. The fact that one website could garner 80% of the trade of a supposedly decentralized currency is proof enough that the site is bullshit. They are just making money off other people's attempt to make money for doing absolutely nothing except piggyback off of the people who actually go out and provide reasons for these coins to exist in the first place.

and that's what is happening to Bitcoin in general, and exactly what it was designed to combat against

hey, that sounds a lot like what a bank does!

I'd never heard of Bitcoins, until I'd heard of SR. Good point...

Yeah but that is completely out of the Bitcoins creators hands, There have been shit loads of sites where you can sign up without ID etc, and then just get forced to provide ID by the goverments, so all the large Bitcoins handlers just use MTGox if they are essentially going to be the same. Ive gone through about 4 sites now where sign up is ok, then there bank accounts are closed by the govt or they start requiring to take ID.

So I guess yeah its going against what exactly it was trying not to do. SR owner refuses to use anything but Bitcoins though, other sites are fine with using other crypto-currencies :\

and you aren't alone in that

mostly because nobody in the right mind was looking up how to convert their already local currency into some fringe cryptocurrency just to be able to buy shit they could get at home for the same price of their local currency. And they (Bitheads) try to claim it removes banks from the equation and thus is simpler to deal with. To which I'd say how hard is it to use a fucking bank these days with online activity and mobile apps? People just hear the word "bank" and immediately get turned off because of the he said she said stories you hear about how bankers are running the world and sucking us dry of our hard earned money with fees and shady practices.

Newsflash: if you actually READ the fucking terms and PLAN out ways to not get hit with fees for being careless with your money, there is no issues.

Banks aren't charities that are there to hold your hand in the fragile process of wealth management, they're there to give you a legally backed assurance (from a sovereign nation) that your money won't disappear overnight and leave you on the street. People just expect everything to be handed to them these days and then get all bitter when stuff that is clearly warned as going to happen, actually happens.

them green camels are also resting on their laurels a bit too much. They could make the value of whatever coin they wanted to skyrocket simply by accepting it on the website, I think the people behind it are just too content with their current operation and afraid to implement any drastic changes so lest there is a wave of fabricated outrage on the forums created by people who love nothing more than to just bitch about anything not perfect with an already ingenious and technologically sound business practice.

probably not a good idea to post those details in here.

try using a different web browser.

MDB, is this another amount to that large figure you were talking about ages ago, or is it that you're still waiting to pay out?
