Big Tobacco knew radioactive particles in cigarettes posed cancer risk but kept quiet

^ true that. but criminalizing tobacco would also be wrong as it is with any other drug. but i'd rather like to see more small and honest tobacco producers than big fat companies providing good quality. most of the pre-rolled and packed cigarettes are little more than garbage. i like to smoke good rolling tobacco myself.

hand-rolled tobacco would still be radioactive. Anything that grows out of the ground is radioactive, thanks to the 20th century's atmospheric nuclear testing.

What a grand world we live in. I Was reading about nuclear testing over the ages and if i'm honest, no clue how this world still functions.

Things aren't radioactive just because of nuclear testing. Bananas, for example, are slightly radioactive because they have naturally occurring potassium, which occurs along with the naturally occurring isotope potassium-40. Brazil nuts are radioactive because the trees have complex root systems that suck up naturally occurring radium.

tobacco companies such as phillip morris donate large sums of money to our politicians just the alcohol and medicine companies do so until some marijuana ppl start playin the same or we remove these greedy ppl from our govt..were gonna be in the same situations

i think maybe that having a lobbyist give money for cannabis wouldnt do anything. i have a feeling that the government just really hates the plant itself. when you take weed or any form of psychedelic it makes you start to think differently. it makes you question all the bullshit that is going on in our country and makes it harder for the government to control you. thats why all these harmless things are illegal. not because they cant make money from them (which we all know they could) but they aren't like all of these mindless prescription drugs and alcohol that just makes you ignore the day to day bullshit. IMO

I don't think the major isotopes in tobacco are primarily anthropogenic... It is 210-polonium and 210-lead, both of which are in the Uranium decay chains, via radon and radium, coming from primordial Uranium.

The pryogenic carcinogens would be present in Cannabis that you combust and smoke too.

Not saying tobacco companies are not slimy MOFOs, but to argue that the radioactivity is added intentionally, that is from man made sources, or that inhaling other plant based smoke is better, are not really accurate.

Right on dude.

This forest ranger at the bottom of the grand canyon told me about this nuclear engineer that was there in my path the day before.. He told the ranger that if he threw a banana peel over the far outside retaining wall at his plant job, that technically he'd have to report it as radiation leakage.

-you all should vape nic out of an e-cig anyways (but definitely know your source on the nic drops and the quality of the atomizer. Aka, don't ingest lead).

@thiz master i agree with what you said i was bein a smartass in sayin that ppl who smoke weed should start throwing money...ive also been thinking lately that may be some of the reason because ppl who use do tend to think differently..ive read that alcohol and beer now a days kills alot of brain cells and i think i might be noticing it in some of the heavy drinkers around me, it definatly appears that they are losing I.Q.

Well said. Has been my opinion for years.

Just to throw this out there, Some of the radiation is from the environment. Much of it is from the phosphate fertilizers they use though. The phosphate is got from Apatite, It's a rock that has radium, lead 210, and polonium 210. The radioactive elements build up overtime and the tobacco will pick it up from the soil.
Estimates of the amount of radiation for a typical smoker puts the amount of radiation between 300 and 22,00 chest xrays a year(the figures quite high but there's multiple studies that came out with different answers so take it with a grain of salt). Our world is a crooked game.

I agree that it is the mind-expanding aspect of cannabis and LSD, mushrooms, etc. that the government is scared of, but it goes deeper - there is an ultimate reason for this.
You can see it by considering the illegality of heroin, cocaine, and other drugs that aren't (as) mind-expanding. Why are these also illegal? They don't want any drugs that hurt productivity (and that no large company can make money from).

People who get their minds expanded often refuse to keep their jobs screwing on toothpaste caps.
People who get hooked on heroin, etc. often cannot continue to keep their jobs.
(In fact, both of these may be myths, but they are myths that the government believes.)

Therefore, it is all about productivity, with an allowance for the "rights" of huge companies, but not individual people.

(But cannabis is most definitely NOT "harmless". It is less harmful than most drugs, but if you think that it is completely harmless, you should look into it a bit more deeply.)
