i think maybe that having a lobbyist give money for cannabis wouldnt do anything. i have a feeling that the government just really hates the plant itself. when you take weed or any form of psychedelic it makes you start to think differently. it makes you question all the bullshit that is going on in our country and makes it harder for the government to control you. thats why all these harmless things are illegal. not because they cant make money from them (which we all know they could) but they aren't like all of these mindless prescription drugs and alcohol that just makes you ignore the day to day bullshit. IMO
I agree that it is the mind-expanding aspect of cannabis and LSD, mushrooms, etc. that the government is scared of, but it goes deeper - there is an ultimate reason for this.
You can see it by considering the illegality of heroin, cocaine, and other drugs that aren't (as) mind-expanding. Why are these also illegal? They don't want any drugs that hurt productivity (and that no large company can make money from).
People who get their minds expanded often refuse to keep their jobs screwing on toothpaste caps.
People who get hooked on heroin, etc. often cannot continue to keep their jobs.
(In fact, both of these may be myths, but they are myths that the government believes.)
Therefore, it is all about productivity, with an allowance for the "rights" of huge companies, but not individual people.
(But cannabis is most definitely NOT "harmless". It is less harmful than most drugs, but if you think that it is completely harmless, you should look into it a bit more deeply.)
