Matthew 21:1-13
When they drew near Jerusalem and had reached Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent off two disciples,
saying to them, “Go to the village directly ahead of you, and as soon as you enter you will find a tethered donkey and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
If anyone says anything to you, tell them, ‘The Lord needs them.’ Then he will let you have them at once.”
This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the prophet:
“Say to the daughter of Zion: Behold, your king is coming to you, humble and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
The disciples went off and did as Jesus had instructed them.
They brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their cloaks on their backs, and he sat on them.
A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
The crowds that preceded him and those that followed kept shouting: Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”
And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was filled with excitement. “Who is this?” the people asked,
and the crowds replied, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.”
Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those whom he found buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.
He said to them, “It is written: ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves.
