Heroin bf overdosed (i think) @ hospital now

Well I hope he is ok, cause by not telling them the truth, the EMT's were not able to give him a nalaxone shot to stop the OD, and by further lying to the doctors in the ER they were not able to treat him properly......I really don't see why you just didn't tell the truth, it would have helped him much more than just lying.......I personally don't think that it is worth keeping your usage a secret, especially to medical professionals, just to save yourself a moment of shame.

I think you should have been completely honest with the doctors from the very beginning. Your bf's life was at stake and anything you could do to help them help him would have been appreciated im sure. You cant get in trouble for going to the hospital because you OD'ed. Thy will simply treat him accordingly and then maybe give you a pamphlet on drug abuse counselors or some shit. there not gonna report you to the police.

I agree that you should have told the doctors and emts the truth. I also agree that your bf would have been treated accordingly, and police would not have been involved.

I would be pretty pissed if I had to pay hospital bills after not even have the actual problem treated.

yo unless you are THE mexican drug lord.... you are in no position to say that. i have seen people cutting dope with fent within the last 6 months bigtime

I wasn't saying anything.. I was saying that the 'famous' Mexican labs that were producing fent around the time that Vaya OD'd have since been closed. LIKE I SAID- That is not to say there isn't 150 more labs around the US producing Fent.

Read my full post before you criticize it.

To everyone who SO wrongly believes I would endanger my bfs life in any way... I had given him cpr and he had regained consciousness by the time the EMT came. My room mate talked to 911, so I couldn't tell them then. Its not like he was dying in front of my face and I witheld info that would save him. If he had been unconscious when they arrived OF COURSE the 1st thing out of my mouth would have been the truth. HE lied. All I did was back him up later. Much later. I cannot describe how much I love this man or how it felt to watch him turn blue. You all would have every reason to feel this way if ur presumptions were correct, but they're not. Sorry, but I had to explain myself. I'm not that person! Btw... when I stay conscious I mean completely lucid.lucid. I don't even know if it was 100% an OD anymore really. He was treated. He didn't need the antagonist. They gave him fluids and got his blood pressure regulated. As for being upset about the bill... we're not paying it. Hate to contribute to high treatment costs, but we have no insurance and its going to be through the roof.

who accused you of "endangering your bf's life"?? I think I must of missed that post

oh!....your referring to us talking about what to say to the doctors.

We werent accusing you of anythign(atleast I know I wasnt), we were merely saying that in those scenarios it is always best to tell the doctors the truth about everything so they can better treat the patient. I mean, people have died from witholding info from doctors because they were afraid of getting arrested. I wasnt accusing you of anything. I was jsut giving advice on what should be done in those instances.

I mean, thats why people come on BL, to get advice.

it truly could have been anything....bad shit...combo of something else in the system...justs makes u think if its all really worth it...the line between fun and death is thin

James brown, its ok. I just wanted to clarify. He was completely functioning and able to speak for himself. If he wanted to "stop the OD" as someone else said he would have been wide awake and able to ask. When the doc called and asked me questions, it was at least 3 hours maybe 4 after it happened. He was ok at that point, why would I tell them then. I had no contact with any medical professional after he got into the ambulance, which was pretty quickly.

I wasnt specifying "who" should have told the medical proffessionals. I was simply saying that they SHOULD be told about the drugs. Its that simple. Whether you tell them, or he does, or your neighbor, it dont really matter.....as long as they know what the situation is, thats what matters.

^^ not anymore. I'M DONE, I've wanted to stop for a long time. It was just too hard. Its not like I'm gonna have nasty WDs, not right now at least, since I'm on methadone. Yeah, he should have been honest. If it were me I probably would have. I re read my 1st post, and I guess u all are just responding to the things I did ask... last night is just kind of a blur. Since I couldn't see him I was really worried. I knew u all would have something to say! Really wish I knew exactly what happened though. That's the only question I want answered now!

^Do you have a source for this? The clandestine labs that were making the fent laced dope years ago (I believe around the time you OD'd) were shut down quite a while ago. That's not to say that there can't be another lab that has started up but I haven't heard of anything lately.

You can purchase fentanyl hcl online from websites, just like you can RC's, for example -- 2c-e if you know the right sources.

Not paying the hospital bill is completely despicable. You being junkies who spend money on hard drugs that can easily put you in the hospital while neglecting to have insurance is the reason all of us responsible drug users pay out the ass for our insurance.

I'm sorry to be a dick about it but that type of thing outrages me, I clean up my own "mess", its a shame other people can't.

Yeah. I kind of expected that. He told them he didn't want to go. He was conscious when they came remember? They took him against his will. Once again, if it were me I might pay. His credit is bad already though. And yeah, don't call me despicable. You don't know me. Don't call me a junkie either. I think its despicable that it is impossible to afford insurance in the 1st place. I think its despicable that we are a developed nation and we don't have universal coverage. Apparently you have plenty of disposable income. I don't. Even if we didn't spend a dime on drugs we still could not afford insurance for both of us. We are not hard core or everyday users.

I didn't call you despicable, i said the act of not paying the bill is despicable. I'm not trying to judge you, it just really bothers me when i see stuff like that.

A large reason that it is "impossible" to afford insurance in this country is because of what happened tonight, where someone went to the hospital and isnt going to pay their bill, thus, pushing everyones health costs up which leads to insurance costs skyrocketing.

We have coverage for those who cannot provide for themselves, its called medicare and it does what its supposed too. As far as the universal coverage thing I'm not going to start a political debate with you, but the last thing this country needs is more handouts. There's a reason why most of Europe is much more broke than we are.

Anyways, I'm glad you and your boyfriend are alright, things could've been much much worse, and I'm sure it was a tramatic event for you. Good luck to you in your future endeavors and be safe!

Yes, this country has medicare, but do you know how difficult it is to qualify for it? It is not simply a matter of being broke. I am 23, don't have a job, am legally disabled, live at home with my mother, and have medical bills out the wazoo and I still don't qualify for medicare. I cannot get insurance on my own, can't afford it and there's just no way I can pay for my medical bills. If anyone should qualify for medicare it is me, but I don't. Pretty much in my state (TN) if you are not a minor or the parent of a minor or pregnant you will not qualify for state insurance. Simple as that. It's crazy. Anyways, I know that is totally off subject but I just wanted to know if you really knew how difficult they make it for people to obtain medicare. It's not easy and it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Sorry for changing the subject.

As Always,
Amberlynn

Actually, when someone goes to the hospital and cant pay there bill it is covered by the city, not some random insurance company. Think about it, if an insurance company was the one footing the bill for this guys medical bill, whicih one would it be? I mean, I doubt there are insurance companies just waiting to pay for someones healthcare....and im right.

Why would you think his medical bills would get deffered to some random insurance company, eventually raising the price of insurance for other people? If he has no insurance, he goes to a hospital that is set up with a program that basically allows the government to cover the cost.....not an insurance company. So, his inability to pay for his medical expenses in no way relates to how much you pay for your insurance. It relates more to the taxes in that region than the medical community.

I thought you would understand this. But...

When the hospital doesnt get payed it has to charge more for its services. As a result of that, insurance companies have to pay more , as do paying customers.

The bill isnt getting deferred anywhere, its getting absorbed into the cost of running the hospital, which has a very direct relationship to how much the hospital charges for its services.

That is the VERY VERY BEGINNING of how it raises costs for insurance companies and thus people. There is a lot more deeper info than that.

Really wish I knew exactly what happened though. That's the only question I want answered now!

What I was saying is that if you and your b.f. had been truthful, then you may have had your question answered by the doctor.
