Best way to take the edge off methadone withdrawal?

anytime bro - i'm more than open to talking methadone withdrawals - it changed my life, i never thought i would make it honestly - like i said i'm 6+ weeks out and i still am not back to normal. I just compare it to say weeks 2-3 when it just got worse and worse daily. Now it might be slow - but it is getting better - and the symptoms while they nag are nothing compared to what they were. I'm a fighter man, i look at this and tell myself when this over nothing will be near as hard as the training during the hard days. It keeps me going.

god bless you!!!

Yes, Methadone is just as worse, with methadone, you get the cold sweats and diarrhea, you vomit... it's just not a great feeling. And especially there is no sleeping.....

still can barely manage 5-6 hours a night. It's obscene how long it takes to get back to normal - not just to feel half okay during the day. I am waiting for that full night of sleep and not having my bones ache - and of course, the left nut (seriously wtf lol).

Dude, I'm gonna have to do some research on that withdrawal symptom... haven't heard of anyone complain of that before, hahaa, sorry. I know a side effect of the methadone is impotence and decreased libido but I've never heard of "testicle aches".

it's like you are blue balled in one nut 24/7 - and holy shit when you get off methadone you want to fuck EVERYTHING. And you last like 15 seconds for the first 3-4 weeks. I swear to you, full blown methadone withdrawals are the most demasculating days if you let it get in your head lol.

Hey ArtOW,
Just letting you know went and got that EKG, the doc said the rapid heartbeat wasn't fast enough to worry about yet unless it an ongoing thing. Your comment about demasculating made me laugh. Keep up the good fight man!

ArtOW,

To add to my list of complaints (HA!) how long do you reckon this rapid heartbeat lasts? Generally speaking, I know everyone is different. Be well my friend.

^ hey buddy - I found the rapid heart beat was gone by week 3-4 for me personally: Did you get some clonodine scripted to you bro? If not I highly recommend calling your doc asap and get it - they will script it it's not scheduled and it is a life saver during w/ds. What other symptoms are you dealing with still bro?

i totally quit using all opiates without any withdraw sickness by toss n washing ( eating ) powdered kratom thats sold online. makes me feel qute nice too. i will occasionalyl indulge in an opiate still but i cant let myself have more than one or two doses randomly because of how strong of an addiction problem i have. so now i have my kratom every day. atleast its simple to get and has no health risks. sure beats the grand mal seizures i ended up with from tramadol and vics, oxys, h, whatever i found, etc. kratom does work. you wont get sick.

it took all anxiety and depression away too. i had no withdrawls really at all and i was popping some seriously high quantitites of pills daily.

im on withdrawls from kratom right now waiting for some to come in the mail. its really not too bad. prolly drink a beer after work to calm the nerves and hope it shows up tomorrow. WAY better then the withdrawls ive went through off my pills in the past.

Interesting, never had considered kratom for it. I'm stumped right now, my liver is fucked up and I was sleeping in the hospital last night and the doc scripted me some oscars - I dunno wtf to do honestly, the pain is really bad - but I also know how quickly I will just be on that terror dope again if I'm not careful. I'm still having some long lasting sides from the methadone, dunno what would happen if I just took one to help me get a night of sleep - thoughts ?(lol @ just take one, I know, I know - but seriously when you have a pain condition opiates are not quite the same as your daily dose of smack).

Hey man, no clonodine as the Doc said if last another 3-4 days to call back (today it feels like it's starting to subside and the EKG was normal. Sorry to hear about your setback (it'll be a better day tomorrow)! I don't know your condition but mine is a degenerative disk and went through what's call a Radio Frequency Ablation (it just kills the nerves).
One thing I notice is if I exercise hard the following day I feel withdrawals (flu like). Oh yeah, the sleep or lack thereof is still hanging around but getting better.
Take care my friend and be well, I'll have a good thought for you.

thanks bro - I haven't opened the bottle yet, I'm waiting to consult with some more experienced methadone users regarding the use of legit pk's during the last stretch of a w/d like this. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm on doc's orders to not lift/spar/train for the next month at least :( - I had blood in my urine and my liver is a mess :(.

You now, now that you mention it I had blood in my urine as well (moderate level), doc wants to do an ultrasound when I get in better health. My endurance is crappy and muscle tone is flabby. Sounds like your going down the right path in seeking someone with experience.

I have been addicated to Oxy's and Heroin for about 5 years. I tried the methadone approach and that didn't work. The only thing that has worked has been Suboxone. This drug is AWESOME!! You will have absolutely no withdraw pains and now I take it for maintenance use. I've been on it for about 3 months now. For those that say they can't afford it is full of shit. My insurance doesn't pay for Suboxone so I have to pay for it out of pocket. My doctor gives me a 30 pill script. I take it to the drug store and fill it. The pills are $6.50ea. You don't have to buy all 30 at one time. If I don't have all the money I will buy just a couple to get me through. So if you have enough money to buy a bag of "H" then you have enough cash to buy a couple Suboxone. I realize the pills aren't cheap but when you think about it, it's still cheaper than "Heroin" and defintely an 80mg Oxycontin!! Good luck peeps!!

Just wait until you try to quit them bro. Bupe withdrawals are devastating :( - sorry to be the one to break it to you. The bottom line here is there is no easy way out from opiates - not one way, even if you get your brain washed YOU WILL WANT TO USE AGAIN. This is the nature of the beast/disease. Just stay as strong as possible.

btw - I am very glad you are finding suboxone treatment works for you, I was on them for a year and half, sold about 2/3rds of my script used even heavier than before and also never had w/d's because of the subs. That life couldn't continue for a lot of reasons.

That's not insurance, my insurance doesn't cover it.....I've checked Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Medicine Shop.......Medicine Shop was the cheapest by far @ $6.50ea.....If you know of a pharamacy cheaper please let me know....I'm in Orlando

hell bro, they sell that shit where I am for cheaper than you are paying (that's what I meant to say, not your insurance, but the prices are cheaper on the street than at your walgreens lol).

RE:methadone taper

I also was taking methadone to get off oxycontin and it was hard, but i had noticed that when i stopped taking the oxy and jumped on methadone that i could drop my intake of methadone dramatically everyday and it was easily tolerable until i didnt need anything anymore...my suggestion would be to take the darvocet for a couple days, less as each day goes by, then something else for a couple days...by doing this, ur body doesnt build tolerance or need anything, you will sleep fine and get no restlessness...it really worked for me the first time...i then relapsed and did it again..i was very surprised that it worked...also a little will power wouldnt hurt
