Back in the days where I had absolutely no money me and my friend would chug the golden nectar, canada house. I can't even smell it anymore without nearly dry heaving.
Not if I have to fly to another state to get itNot available in every state, but Very Old Barton is the absolute best value whiskey.

Agree - JW Double Black would be my best value. First time I had a dram of it, I had to do a double take on what bottle it had come out of, a very pleasant surprise. Wouldn't take it to a desert island with me if given a choice, but I wouldn't be complaining if it was all there was available. JW Gold is good too bit more expensive though...I've tried hundreds of great whiskeys. I worked as a barman at some fancy places.
I don't really drink these days but I always have a bottle on my shelf. I can afford basically anything, so what do I buy?
Johnny Walker Black or double black.
Which honestly many years ago when I was drinking every famous single malt you can think of.. I never would have believed that this is the drink I'd take with me to a desert island.
But it is. It's an absolutely fantastic drop and I think if you did blind testing would be many people's favorites. It's reputation and low price puts people off but honestly, it shouldn't.
Funnily enough I did actually do a blind taste test of all the Johnny walker variants with about 15 other people. Everyone picked black or double black as their top choice except one picked silver. Blue was mostly 3rd place which we all laughed about. No one liked green(probably why they stopped making it).
What would you take in the figurative desert island scenario?Agree - JW Double Black would be my best value. There are so many to choose from... probably kavalan soloist sherry cask but these are on my list to choose from glendronach revival, aberlour a'bunadh, ardbeg 10 or any hibiki. What would you take in the figurative desert island scenario?
The runner up or only other consideration for me is Glenmorangie. That stuff is so good. If I could take both I would haha. Pretty hard to decide which I actually like more really.
Great do any come in plastic bottleThere are so many to choose from... probably kavalan soloist sherry cask but these are on my list to choose from glendronach revival, aberlour a'bunadh, ardbeg 10 or any hibiki.
Can't let this seemingly innocuous comment slide by without any pushback. Canada's greatest recording artists I can think of a few others how about Bruce Cockburn or Ryan Adams or even Bryan Adams?Canada's greatest recording artist meets Canada's finest distilled spirit, in song.
If you like blended whiskey, Black Velvet is a solid choice.
