best thing to do to get rid of "love handles"

It is very possible that you will never be able to get rid of them unless you get lipo (which is what I am getting in a couple years for the same reason).

The number of fat cells you have and where they are distributed throughout your body is a set number determined during puberty (unless you become truly incredibly obese in which case you will gain more fat cells). So for the most part your fat cells will simply grow and shrink depending on your diet etc. However, if you get really thin, at a certain point, your fat cells are shrunken as much as they can be -- they are simply a nucleus and a cell membrane -- and cannot get any smaller. Since fat cells are never reduced in number naturally, you are stuck -- and will not be able to naturally lose any more effective fat in that area.

I have reached this point and still had too much fat proportionally on my stomach and haunches, thus for me the only option is liposuction -- it's the only way to decrease the actual number of fat cells.

Fairy,

How did you determine that you reached this point? I am curious if (with this being the case) if you would be willing to post any stats about yourself, weight, body fat % height etc. I am imagine to have realized you have reached this point that you must have extensively dieted in a very controlled setting to have concluded medically that this is the case, no?

Yes, I am. It's bad enough *for me* and it's the only place on my body that I really have alot of fat, so it makes me very disproportional. If I gain any weight it is generally on my stomach, this makes me look like I am pregnant or worse imitating budhha. If I get lipo, I will be able to gain weight elsewhere on my body and look overall much more proportionate.

markus: Please read my name carefully. There is only one letter Y in my name.

I knew I had reached this point because I was very thin, but kept losing weight without any reduction in size in that area of my body -- yet I kept getting smaller everywhere else.

I am 5'5", at that point I was about 100 lbs and 14% body fat. I wasn't dieting but I was running ALOT. I was also lifting (for toning, not strength) and doing 45 min of crunches a day. My abs, underneath all the fat, were rock hard.

Obviously I can't be 100% sure that my fat cells in this area were completely shrunken but based on my observations it is the most reasonable conclusion and explanation.

^^^Ok Acutally...after looking in your profile at some of your pictures...I did not see any love handles. I was thinking you were all skinny with thes eflabby sides...but I did not see any flabby sides!

I don't post any pics where they are visible. The lip o is definitely happening; one of my best friend's husband is a plastics resident now.

Also, part of my issue is I don't like having to be super thin in order to look decent. I'd rather have more boobs and hips and ass without looking pregnant.
