Best Supplements/Multivitamins

Centrum is a terrible multi vitamin. I've been told by my local gp and various friends parents who are Also in the medical field.

The best way to tell whether it's a good multi vitamin or not is to look at the colour of your urine.. Seriously. If it's a bright yellow then you know that it's packed with vitamins because your body is over dosed with it and is getting rid of what it does not need. And if your urine looks like uranium
Then you know your getting the best :D

Get Swiss multi vitamins. They are the best ones. They have a wide range which you can get fairly cheap at discount warehouse.

I get the daily and the sports b vitamin ones

Fish oil is good to. Try krill or salmon oil

Hope this helps

Peace.

nice thread, i take daily.

1 x centrum multi vit (heard bad things about it) but works for me
3 x 500mg vit c
3 x ZMA (zinc + b6 + magnesium sertrate)

also, body building suppliments i use contain huge ammounts of b12 so ill add that there too, N.O xplode

note i take this on top of a very stable and healthy and very very freakin expensive diet

On a related note some dr's maintain that taking a vitamin is bad because you wouldn't be getting that much of your daily allowance...daily and it can lead to weird cancers.

^ What, if you just take the multivitamin and then eat terribly? Then I suppose so, but if you eat alright but just need to top up you will be fine.

Swiss LOL that is the best of the worst brands I guess. Universal make their supplements in a much better form, and you know exactly what your taking (hence the 11 pills), and you can take one away for a while or whatever. It lets you dose what your body needs. Yes, your urine is a bright yellow when taking these multis. As mentioned over and over, expensive, but bloody brilliant.

If you can't afford Universal, Swisse Multi Vit's would be the way to go.

If you don't change your lifestyle (eating maccas every day and doin what ya do), multis will only help a minuscule amount, I wouldn't even bother taking them if you don't intend on changing your lifestyle... I'm sure you know that already, just making a point for the younger crew around.

Vitamins can be broadly divided into Fat Soluble and Water Soluble Vitamins.

Vitamins A D E and K are fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamins B ( B1 B2 B6 B12 ) and C are water-soluble.

Yep, and generally water solubility means little to no toxicity. Vitamin B6 has shown toxic effects, but only in extremely high doses. I have no idea why anyone would take such doses, but there you go. They have done it and now we know better.

Exactly. I would perhaps disagree with minuscule; they will prevent vitamin deficiencies which can be potentially dangerous (vitamin C and vitamin B12 spring to mine as two particularly nasty ones), but they sure won't stop you getting fat, developing diabetes and putting a load on your liver and kidneys. That's why they have that disclaimer on the side of vitamin and supplement bottles: this product is not intended to replace a balanced diet.

^ How often do you use the animal paks?

I use it daily. I normally take the 11 pills all at once after breakfast. Works very well:) Gives u alot of energy throughout the day.

Did some research and seem as though Animal Pak is for:

- All competitive strength & power athletes
• High-intensity training
• Athletes who use supplements
• Athletes who want maximum performance

Would you recommend for average joe like myself who is just after a decent multivitamin?

I would recommend it to anyone especially if u have a physical job and/or take alot of drugs which deplete ur system from vitamins and minerals.

Where can this animal-pak stuff be bought from? What store, chemist ect. Or website.

Most bodybuilding shops have stopped selling it and restrictions are tightening and i have heard from many shop owners that its getting harder and harder to import due to the TGA and regulations regarding the importation of pills which are classified as food opposed to powder which is much easier to import. U can still get it tho or if not then try online. I usually have friends ship over supplements from EU as its much cheaper there plus dollar is very strong.

^Cheers dude.
These animal pak things look to be by far the best option. Thanks sustanon!

No worries mate, let me know how u are going with it!

So is it really bad for you to have too many vitamins and minerals?

I would have thought too much is better than not enough.

I wouldnt say its bad for u if ur taking the recommended dosage. Ur body just wouldnt be able to digest it ud have to be more worried about wasting it then worrying that it will cause damage. Taking excessive amounts on the other hand will and can cause all sorts of problems like with everything.

Fat soluble vitamins A,K,E, and D are not washed out of ur system whilst water soluble vitamins are.

A healthy diet is necessary. Its essential that u eat properly as u still need a healthy system to build in all those vitamins and minerals. Thats like eating grilled fish with a nice fresh salad then having 3 doughnuts LOL

There was a doco recently in NZ 'are your vitamins killing you?'

Sensationalist title and biased program...but they made some good points. Too much of certain vitamins can cause you more problems than being slightly deficient would. The findings in the show were based on people 'stacking' different vitamins and getting some things double or tripled up.

Would never take anything called Universal Animal Pak that requires so many large tablets in a day...what is possibly taking up all that space? Do they use unrefined vitamins? or maybe just vitamins in another form?

With those workout powders/tablets I'd want to know what was in them and would be suspect that one or two 'secret ingredients' would be added with all the good reviews they've been getting...wouldn't be surprised if some RC or obscure rarely tested for substance is in them, even if it's just small amounts.

With that said in the past I've bought all kinds of substances without knowing what exactly is in them...

If that is your benchmark for a good multivitamin then you may as well just take riboflavin (B2), as it's the only vitamin that causes that change in urine color.

The vitamins you need to avoid an overdose of are well known; A, D, E and K as they are fat soluble and B6 as though it is water soluble, an overdose can lead to toxic effects.

The Animal Paks are so huge and so many tablets because they also include essential amino acids, supplements for various other things, antioxidants, etc...

Almost all NO2 products get they're effect from a stimulant (caffeine in No-Xplode, DMAA in Jack3d) and AAKG (Arginine Alphaketogluterate - basically a more bioavailable form of Arginine). You can get AAKG super cheaply as a bulk powder.

They'll have other stuff like citrulline malate and l-tyrosine which you can get cheaply if you want. I've found it MUCH cheaper to pick out the main active ingredients, buying them over the net and mixing up you're own powder.

I'm a Martial Arts Tricker (Not me but give you an idea of the sport) and i've got a pretty good pre-session drink worked out:

600ml Water
35g Dextrose (sucrose/table sugar works fine too)
1g salt (not really measured, just a decent pinch)
3g Creatine
2g AAKG
5g Tyrosine
150-200mg Caffeine
60mg Pseudoephedrine
Lemon Juice for taste

Its pretty cheap to make as everything can be bought as bulk powders (except the pseudoephedrine) and mixed up like powerade powder (in this case i replace the lemon juice with some citric acid, without it it feels like i'm drinking sugar syrup, Yuck!)

wow sounds like a good combo mate ;)

U made a very good choice to start ur healthier living whilst taking multis. I am a big fan of multivitamins and anyone who is thinking of increasing there well being then it would be ideal for the to start with multivitamins. Most of the current multis on the market are just rubbish, centrum, berocca and etc. They contain trace elements of each vitamin which isnt sufficient as they are so low dosed.

I use animal pak and its the best multi i have used, im goin thru my 4th tub and i felt a difference within 2-3 weeks. Its kinda pricey but u get what u pay for and contains a vast majority of different vitamins, minerals, aminos, anti oxidants, performance optimizers, joint and bone support and digestive enzymes and also milk thistle to keep ur liver healthy. Liek i mentioned before its a bit pricey but well worth it n its way better than anything that i have tried n i have tried alot of them.

do you use the us or oz version mate??

I use the Aussie version. I know they have different ingredients but the Americans changed it so they are the same now. Ive had sum sent over from Europe with mates and they usually get there imports from the US. Either way its great stuff. Get ur hands on sum before they become banned as they have new legislations regarding importing pills.

^ What's the new legislation? I haven't heard of it yet, sounds concering though. :\

I have a good friend of mine who is working for the AFP (customs and undercover work) and was telling me that anything that is in pill form is classified as food and wouldnt pass TGA's guidelines and one would need a special permit to import it. I dont think the new regulations have started yet but they will be.

chill my fellow blue lighters, i have been ordering hundreds of banned pills, powders and the like, not once has a package been held!

Once they did check a delivery which contained 50 or so grams of JWH250, yet they let it through.

Us Aussies are too caught up thinking our customs is as tight as a ducks ass, when in reality, a fuck load of prohibited shit is let into this great country on a daily basis.

So... Chill, and enjoy your imported multis!

i take fish oil, vitamin D, multi vitamin, zinc, magnesium, ginko, milk thistle, cayenne pepper, L-arginine. i love the fish oil the most, very good mental clarity

^ Be careful with the cayenne pepper that you aren't getting too much Vitamin A, though from what you've listed you should be alright.

How long did it take everyone to start noticing effects from fish oil? I'm thinking of starting that, or some nootropics, will just have to wait and sort out some money problems first.
