Hey guys.
Posted this in the Aus. forum because i'm looking for answers specific to Australia. Mods feel free to move this where ever you please.

Anyways, i'm thinking it's time to change my diet and lifestyle somewhat. So first step is to address my diet, i've got that sussed out pretty well.

Now next thing i'm thinking of is supplements. I pretty much want to give my body everything it needs daily. So all the vitamins, minerals, essential oils.

So far i'm thinking a good general multivitamin or two, you know like one of those all in one prepartions. And some high strength fish oil supplements.

I'm pretty much just curious what you guys use for this type of thing, recommendations and suggestions are encouraged.

Thanks guys. :)

A general multi-vitamin like centrium. Fish Oil, Goji berries or goji juice are good for anti oxidants, olive leaf extract, liquid chlorophyll for general well being, got to your local health store and ask. Look into things before you buy they are expensive.

I also take iron, magnesium, calcium and ecchinacea but get a blood test see if you defficient at all in any thing

I use a multi-vitamin and a B12 supplement as I was deficient in B12. If you have deficiencies you will notice a difference, if your diet is poor then you probably are low in some vitamins.

I would recommend a blood test to see what exactly you need, so perhaps you can save money. There is no point paying for things you don't need. :)

This is a cool thread, I was thinking of starting a vitamin/supplement thread as well. :D

Do research on what is proven to work and what isn't. Fish oil is good, but as for echinacea and vitamin C there was a study done recently showing that they have limited effects on reducing the length and severity of the common cold.

Do you have a link for that study?

^ I'll try and find it in a little while, if you can't wait though an article was written about it on the Sydney Morning Herald website last week or the week before. I think the week before last. :)

nice thread, i take daily.

1 x centrum multi vit (heard bad things about it) but works for me
3 x 500mg vit c
3 x ZMA (zinc + b6 + magnesium sertrate)

also, body building suppliments i use contain huge ammounts of b12 so ill add that there too, N.O xplode

note i take this on top of a very stable and healthy and very very freakin expensive diet

There is a cool test you can do for zinc deficiency involving tasting some zinc solution. Depending on how fast you taste it, you can find out if you may be deficient in that mineral. It's cool, but tastes fucking disgusting and the test is a bit expensive as you have to buy a whole bottle of solution.

I was OK for zinc, the test indicated that I was maybe normal-low, but I'm probably in need of vitamin D since I don't get out into the sun much!

Mistee, would you care to expand on what your diet involves? I'm interested in starting to eat healthier myself. :)

Would you recommend NO2 products? I have been thinking of getting some for a while but I already spend enough money on bodybuilding supplements and a diet heavy in meat, so if it is of little benefit I doubt I'll bother. Could you recommend an affordable and good brand?

The only supplements I use are whey protein, creatine and glutamine (all bodybuilding supplements). I could probably benefit from a mutlivitamine because I don't eat enough vegetables.

Ahh dudes, mineral supplements are a waste of money ay. Eat a healthy diet, drink loads of water, exercise daily and you can be in tip-top conditions. Now, mineral supplementation for drugs is another story. Magnesium is good if your into crank.

I take a combined multivitamin/fish oil, because I know with my diet I'm probably deficient in 'something' and fish oil has so many benefits that if even half of them are real, it's a good idea to take it.

I think beyond that, taking specific supplements shouldn't be necessary as a rule, unless you have a specific condition or problem you're trying to treat.

Arguably this is one of the most complete vitamins on the market - Ortho Core

From memory 1 bottle which is 180 caps 6 a day was approx $[snip] delivered to aust.

Due to the concentrated amounts of some of the items inside i'd suggest not ordering more then a 3 month supply i.e 3 bottles. For fear of reprisals at the border.

I cant recall if were allowed to share links to other forums but i think you will be overloaded with useful information at this forum www.imminst.org

OK here it is... The facts! LOL

Don't waste hundred on rubbish multis like the Coles or supermarket brands, dont waste money on GNC rubbish either. There is only 1 multi I would ever take (and do take). The 11 tablets per day are fucking huge, but after only one day, you can feel the difference! I wont post price or where to buy it, find that yourself, but it's called.

Universal Animal Pack.

^ That sounds like a very comprehensive multi ha ha.

^ Yeh it's not cheap but I've heard it's used pretty widely in BB circles?... * waits for sustanon to chime in *

I'll agree with everyone suggesting fish oil. It's pretty much lauded as being beneficial in every review I've seen as the average western diet has an imbalance of essential fatty acids (vegetarians should look into flax seed oil or chia seeds). With fish oils do you guys typically buy the cheapest that has been mercury tested?

I'd also agree with the notion that a lot of multivitamins can be a waste of money unless you're addressing a specific deficiency. A blood test is a good idea and you'll have no problems getting one organised through your local GP. B12 deficiency for example can have some nasty symptoms but is easily identified and treatable.

Has anyone tried spirulina?

My Dad used to get Nature's Own fish oil I think... I'll have a look at prices tomorrow and see what is the cheapest and mercury tested. :)

I haven't tried spirulina, we sell it too though I believe.

Wow. So how many nangs did you do exactly? =D

Personally I find that eating a well balanced diet, getting enough sleep and taking multi vits with fish oil when I can remember seems to keep me feeling happy and healthy despite the constant raping I put my body and mind through hehe.

I like to asses my diet with the good ol' fashioned primary school food pyramid in mind ;)

If I feel I havent been eating enough of something lately I'll cook up a massive feast concentrating on that type of food, get retardedly stoned and mung out like my life depends on it.
Multi vits are excellent for peice of mind in terms of filling gaps in your diet, I take centrum. Almost guarenteed to prevent 99% of potential deficiencies that way. And not having enough of an essential element can lead to all sort of VERY serious and potentially permenant/lethal conditions.

And your brain likes omega3. Yeah the ad's dont lie. Fish oil ftw.

^ Ha ha, everyone asks me that but the truth is I hadn't done them in a while and I certainly wasn't using that heavily.

Unlike coffee and cigarettes, which I live on and can deplete B12. That was probably the cause, and they can deplete other vitamins as well or stop their absorption. Hence why I think it's prudent of me to take a multi for a while. :)

I take fish oil, a mega B vitamin complex, magnesium, multi vitamin and tyrosine. From the fairly limited research I've done this seems like a good mix to counteract some of the negative effects of stimulant abuse. There's a good chance it's just a placebo effect but I do think the magnesium in particular is useful for the muscle cramps I get after using a bit too much.
