best songs of the 90s

Richard Thompson - I Feel So Good - best audio

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziABOSERPXc

I feel so good I'm going to break somebody's heart tonight
I feel so good I'm going to take someone apart tonight
They put me in jail for my deviant ways
Two years, seven months and sixteen days
Now I'm back on the street in a purple haze

CHORUS
And I feel so good
I feel so good
I feel so good I'm going to break somebody's heart tonight

I feel so good I'm goning to make somebody's day tonight
I feel so good I'm going to make somebody pay tonight
I'm old enough to sin but I'm too young to vote
Society been dragging on the tail of my coat
But I've got a suitcase full of fifty pound notes
And a half-naked woman with her tongue down my throat
CHORUS
They made me pay for the things I've done
Now it's my turn to have all the fun
I feel so good I'm going to break somebody's heart tonight

Levellers - Sell Out (awesome track)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ai65solIkIY

The year was 1991, it seems that freedom is dead and gone
The power of the rich is held by few
Keep the young paralyzed, educated by your lies
Keep the old ones happy with the news
Tell the singer not to song his song
Tell the poet that she's wrong
And in the courts you'll win the case with lies
Cos you sold them down the river-o

Do I belong to some ancient race
I like to walk in ancient places
These are things that I can understand
I don't believe in your modern way
Don't care about the things you say
Your policies have failed the test of time
Cos you sold them down the river-o

Now in a land not far away, there's men in prison because they say
The colour of your skin is not a question
Did you rally to their side
No, you sat back and let them die
I don't know how you get to sleep at night

CHORUS

Your money market goes round and round
The pound goes up, the dollar goes down
Another south-american forest cut down
You need the power for your new towns
Cos you get scared when the night comes down
Won't you tell me where it is that we are bound

The Levellers - Fifteen Years - LYRICS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qusMDB_A7xc

I never was a violent man
Said the man in the bar with his head in his hands
he’s Trying his best to understand the cause of his dismay
But the years of gin have broken him
they’ve left him cold where he’s fitted in
but It's too late now to turn around and find another way

And the laughs in the late night lock-in
have Faded away when he gets in
the girl from fifteen years ago
Has packed and gone away

That’s never how it used to be
What happened to all that energy
You took one too many liberties, I'm tired of being afraid
So after the fight she took flight
Hiding swollen eyes and a wounded pride
The best years of her life denied, and sold for liquid shares

CHORUS

and The victims of their world, are advertised on posters
just A beach and a pretty girl, if you just take this potion

theres another week 'til his cheque comes through
He's got a fiver left now to spend on food
But the doors of the bars are open, and he breaks another rule
well He sits on a stool that bears his name
Hes got a favorite glass well its called the same
he's never been kept waiting, 'cos he pays a landlord's wage

How could i forget this chiming masterpiece ?

I assume this has already been posted, possibly by me but anyway 2 Unlimited - No Limits. I had to explain it to the people I went to college with cos it came up in our music video class and they had no idea wtf being a bit younger.

Also I'm gonna break the rules a tiny bit and post Beat Club - Acid Train. I know it was 1989 but that video.

God why are all the videos I wanna post from the 80s or 70s?

Can't beat Wannabe tho.

Anyone remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeUx5sdp3qM Spaceman by Babylon Zoo

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters [Official Music Video]

Damn, you got there first!

No explanation though, plus I have a better version of the song:

Metallica - Cunning Stunts Doodle & Nothing Else Matters

^^ A live version from '97/'98 with additional Bass & Guitar bits at the start.

Nothing Else Matters, or more rightly, the Black Album, was the point when Metallica not only explored their musicality but also became a mainstream success. For me, it is the crowning glory for the band although others might have differing opinions.

Fuck that....Master of Puppets ffs. I hate that overly produced stuff they started pumping out in the 90's. Each to their own though.

A link to one of my favourite 90's tunes did pop up in the sidebar though:

The Cranberries - Zombie

My favourite would probably be this, although it's not exactly what I'd call a 'song':

Outlander - Vamp

Never fail to lose the plot when I hear that one coming in. So moronistically simple and yet so progressive, alive and transfixing at the same time. If this doesn't make you want to move your feet and jump up and down like a lunatic there's no hope for you
