So basically I am sick of living in Adelaide and I wanna live some where nice, preferably pretty.

But I am open to other suggestions and reasons to go somewhere, nice people, nice atmosphere anything.

If you could live any where in Aus where would it be?

I lived in Darwin for 6 years man and would go back up there in a heart beat if I got the opportunity.

Why? Mainly because of the outdoors. Fishing, Kakadu National Park, the heat too..I hate cold weather.

Melbourne. I really like it, and far more happens there than here. Particularly there are more things to do for those not so into the pub/club scene.

I wouldn't call Melbourne pretty though, grey and too many dreary days when I have lived there. Not to mention it being hard to travel across from parts of the town to the other. Melbourne likes to claim it is the cultural capital of australia, but i have found most of the cities in australia offer the same when it comes to entertainment. Too miserable in winter and too many +35 C days in summer. If I wanted shit weather without snow I would head back home to Auckland. Sydney is lovely but it comes with a cost to live in those pretty areas. If you are living on the breadline or don't have any real job skills you will often be force to live in the outskirts and face an annoying and expensive commute. After traveling most of my adult life I have settled in Brisbane. Fantastic weather year around, rugby and cricket test matches each year and a stones throw from some truly beautiful natural places for camping and enjoying the outside lifestyle. It does help that I earn enough to live on the river and I'm a quick ferry trip from the city and nightlife.

If I didn't have to work I'd plant myself away from civilization and hammock swing, surf and get spangled somewhere around Byron Bay/ NNSW or on an island in the Whitsundays.

That's always been one of my top places to go live, my best mate too. My dad spent a fair bit of time in the Whitsundays too. QLD seems pretty nice too

Thanks every body!

I would have to say Melbourne.

Though Busty is right about the weather sometimes being shitty, and it being expensive, it is a great city to live in. Lots of things to do. great food, easy to get around, great clubs/bars/coffee. It is a pretty city. good sporting events, cool vibe etc.

Brisbane Is more layed back and u can travel to gold coast via public transport for fairly cheap if u don't have a car plenty of places to relax and get away from daily grind, people are friendly and weather is amazing in summer and not freezing in winter... just my opinion

Mullumbimby, NSW. (30 mins from Byron Bay, and 45mins or maybe more or less cant recall to the Gold Coast)

Sounds like you should stay away from the big cities Jake - im sure their all pretty similar to Adelaide. Like poledriver said, the NSW mid to north coast is gorgeous. Work being hard to find is probably the only issue.

^ Yeah good points. I really prefer the mid north coast all the way up to the far north coast of NSW. But i love the whole East coast, I just find Syd and the central coast a bit built up, busy and expensive these days but i'm sure there are great spots still. I want to explore over the coastline of WA someday, but its a long way...So is Adelaide, I went there once via train and bus fuck it took ages.. lol. Dunno why I didnt fly. But if i ever drive over there or WA i know its going to take along time and use alot of petrol.

Any further north than Bris just about seems to get hammered alot by the elements / nature, but if u dont mind living in Air con alot of the yr cairns would be nice, looks beautiful, i wanna go there sometime in my life. Altho the ocean sounds somewhat dodgy up there with stingers an stuff like box jelly fish, im not sure if they're all yr round tho, i think there is certain times they are worse.

Nah but seriously I liked the Gold Coast Hinterland the best. Probably about 50 villages/towns in 2 hour's drive's radius and awesome locations not to mention the surf, the sun, the sorta untouched feel of it.

The things everyone else has mentioned I can appreciate. I've lived and travelled/ worked in a lot of aus (QLD, NSW, WA) and am back in my hometown of Perth wwwwaaaaaayyyy out here in the wild west lol. Planning my next move to be honest and it is not going to be elsewhere in Australia.

I would have thought proximity to the gold coast is a negative factor.

And the weather in summer is unbearable.

Apart from that, I do like brisbane, but hobart is my favourite australian city, atm.

I would have to agree with those who suggested Darwin. And I've never even been there!! :D Everyone I know who has been there has raved on about how nice it is, and how they'd love to live there. So, numerous people can't be wrong....right? ;)

I would personally suggest anywhere on the coast of Tasmania <3 It depends on how laid-back you really wanna get though. Somewhere like Bicheno, Wynyard or Penguin would be a suuuuper laid-back/lazy/chilled out lifestyle I reckon. Whereas I'm guessing Hobart (or even Launceston, which isn't reeeally on the "coast") would be slightly more lively :)

You've hit the nail on the head.

Tasmania is the definition of chilled out.

Never hear anyone talk about the south coast of Nsw. Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama are all nice places to live. Uncrowded beaches good food an hour and a half from Sydney cbd and the same south to awesome quiet coastal towns.
