Best pictures of the Decade - The Noughties.

I quite like the idea of posting your own personal pic that sums up the last decade for you. Kinda like an antidote to the shitey ones in that list and a reminder that it doesn't have to be bodies, blood and bombsites to make a great pic. But maybe in a different thread if Cherry wants to rule this one with a rod of iron. Mmm... DominatriCherry <3

Also, the buggers don't seem to like linkies to pics. I was talking about the one with the soldier supping rancid jizz from a johnny in Haiti (I think) though. Bizarre.

Yeah, but the unfortunate fact is that if more people thought about things other their immediate environments (and abandoned their egocentric perspectives and belief systems for even a second), then a lot of this 'doom and gloom' wouldn't be allowed to happen, or at least wouldn't go as relatively unnoticed by the majority as it does.

That's not a personal criticism of anyone in particular, but rather the wider culture of apathy, 'tittytainment' (look it up if you want to get really scared) and self-centred materialism.

I'm not saying the answer is to be a monk or a depressive; by all means, enjoy life - that's what it's there for. Don't allow yourself to either become desensitised or apathetic towards what's really going on though, as you may find that wider reality creeping on you someday soon.
 
You're totally right, but unfortunately Im not one of those people. I know its wrong and I should probably be a little less self centered but as a great man once said "fuck it".

It's happening right now in our towns and cities across the UK. I am angered when people point their fingers at other sub-groups and say 'they're to blame!'

Some sort of communal stand against aristocracy and social degradation would be nice rather than the constant apathy for anything that isn't celeb culture. A nice Egypt style uprising wouldn't go amiss.

Fucking hell, how depressing and pointless!

Best pictures? No, most depressing pictures more like.

I am very happy, but these pictures brought tears to my eyes.

Very effective images but some also pretty bollocks ones, Italy winning the world cup, great.... not like they haven't done that before. Madonna? Probably the worst ten years of her music career.

People starving and dying nothing new there.

I don't see any point in this at all, especially not if you are going to jump on anyone who then decides to post happy responses, some people are happy. Others are sad.

If people are that unhappy about poor starving children in far away places, go do something about it instead of posting it on an internet message board and bringing people who are perfectly happy down in the process!

Sometimes the world is a depressing place, sometimes it's fucking wonderful. Welcome to real life.

I simply posted a link that I found interesting. I also didn't choose the thread title, it was taken from the website. Some excellent photography. I didn't decide what pictures were put on the website. If you don't see the point, you know not to click on a thread. There are so many threads on BL Ive never even read.

I also wrote that I was happy and grateful for the life I have, but as other people have stated this stuff goes on in the world, and some people in the thread stated they'd rather not know and ignore it, one comment was even made 'fuck you world, I've had a great ten years.' One of them admitted they skimmed the thread totally didn't read it properly.

I didn't jump on anyone who posted happy responses. If I did, it was a knee jerk reaction to the mood I was in at the time, I'm a human being after all. I commented on the fact that some people seemed to choose to ignore what goes on in the real world.

I'm also out of whatever comedown I was going through at the time. I'm a human being who lives in the real world after all. Subject to feelings!

Feel free to post some pictures that made your decade. I've got lots of them I just aint going to put them all over, or dig them out, I 'd be interested to see yours.

Black King - seen a few annoying posts from you recently, you just seem to want to disagree with people and present yourself as an irritating tit.

Annoys me the apathy of people towards suffering throughout the world.

I am no saint and do often take "luxuries" for granted (i.e. running clean water) but the "fuck you I just want to party and don't care" attitude does annoy me.

You are not chosen where you are born, just because the majority of readers & posters here were spawned into relative luxury merely makes them lucky, you could have been born in a war zone and had your entire family killed. Am sure you would care a little more if this was the case (perhaps not).

Hope this post made a little sense and was not too preachy.
 
Well you can preach off seeing as i've helped raise and donated thousands of pounds to many different charities be it homeless people in this country, starving people in Africa, ill people in Asia etc in the past few years.
