I thought I would post this thread because I keep reading in soooo many places that using the intranasal route (snorting) any benzo is a waste of time and if it does effect you faster or more intensely then it's either the placebo effect or the drip just making its way to your stomach.
I will start by saying this full blown B.S.! I use clonazepam (klonopin) regularly and have done so for years. When I take them orally, they hit me about an hour and a half later ( the mean Tmax, which is technical talk for the average time to the drugs peak in your body, is always given as around 1.7 hours).
The argument on these boards have always been that because the vast majority of benzos are insoluble in water, it is useless to snort them because they won't dissolve in the sinus and absorb ther, insoluble. I have been both taking K-pins orally and nasally for quite some time now and there is a HUGE difference in effect between the two ROA's.
Snorted, I feel the smooth rush come over me in about 10-15 mins and it is a little more profound than when they kick I'm orally at 1.5 hrs. I have now read more than one medical study that tested just what were talking about here. In one study they compared Tmax values of intranasal clonazepam to buccal And IV ROA's. The Tmax value for intranasal clonazepam was 17.5 minutes compared to 1.7 hrs orally. Further, the Cmax for I.N. clonazepam was much greater than that of the oral dose. Conclusion, regardless of water solubility (I think a drug can absorb through the nasal cavity w/o being water soluble anyway), you will get much more "bang for your buck" snorting klonopin. I felt the need to post this because I everyone I tried to research intranasal Tmax values of benzodiazapines I got the "don't even try it response) do take from it what you will, I found it interesting that you can get kpin to peak in about 15 mins.
