Benzo's counteract tramadol seizures?

PS, I also have access to phenegren (nausea), and seroquel, would either of these be better to reduce the risk of seizures, better than the Xanax xr that is?Does anyone know anything about this. I also have a bottle of diphedryl... I know, I dont have access to anything very good, but I will take what I can. Just trying to find the best "buzz" with what I have available. Tramdol, Xanax XR, seroquel, Phenegren, liquid diphedryl, and a couple darvocets left, but after reading about them on here, Im scared shitless to take any more. I just want to avoid a tramadol seizure, and I read that benzos are good for that

Anyone else have experience in this matter? I sure wish I had access to more, but I dont, and I can only make do with what I have. Any suggestions for a nice little "nod" or "buzz" with what I got???
 
I will appreciate it from anyone!! I know, I know, Im a lightweight, but I know you guys can suggest a nice mix.....
 
I took a slug of the diphedryl, and barely noticed anything....... I am trying to limit the tram,and take xanax with it to reduce risk of seizures, but cant figrue how to do it safely!!!!!!!!
 
I am trying to bump this up, becuase you guys are WAY more knowledgeable than me about this stuff, REALLY smart whereas I am not so much where opiates are concerned. I know someone knows the answer..... and i will appreciate it VERY much...... HOpe everyone is having a great Sunday
 
I have a question. The only damn blasted opiate (syntehtic I know) that I can get my hands on is sucky old tramadol, which IMO, is better than nothing at all. I have had to go through Rehab, so I am redflagged with doctors, and cang get shit, and you can legally get it off the internet in my state. ANyway, I keep reading all the seizure risks, etc. I have a script from my psych doc (who doenst know I am an addict) for 1mg Xanax XR. I am lucky to get that, my medical doc would shite, My question is, will taking some of the xanax XR with the tramadol reduce my risk of seizure?? I also take lamictal, which is sometimes used to manage seizures in epileptics.

I know no one can give out medical advice or Im not supposed to TAKE it as medical advice or whatever, just asking for opinions, or maybe personal experiece.....thanks in advance, and yea, I know sucks to be me with only tramadol, believe me, I know......

Yes, benzos do help against seizures, this is true. However, I still would not go over 400-500mg TOPS of tramadol a day, benzos or not. If you end up going past that point for whatever reason, i would make sure to have a good 4-6mg of alprazolam or clonazepam etc in you.

IwantitALL, forget about the clonazepam. Xanax is far better and far more fun. Especially if you're combining it with an opioid, such as tramadol.

Hey just curious, and thanks by the way for your reply, Why do you disagree so strongly that xanax isnt the better of the two? Do you think it wont work as well with the seizure threshold, or is there some other reason?? I am prescribed 400mg a day, and do go over that, and my XANAX is XR, so I usually take a couple with the Tram, but I am curious as to what you meant about Xanax vs. other benzos......... Thank you again for your reply, Ihave been dying for some one else to have an opinion......
 
Xanax (or alprazolam) - is an anxiolitic (stopping you from having stress - AND on a very fast acting short term basis) - Whereas Clonazepam is very stong - And is an antiepileptic - ie. to stop you having (epileplic) seizures - And has a very long half life !!

I am on both atm and think I am at the point that I can drop both 2moro cause I am going to see my GP (doctor) and try for a Tramadol prescription - I am already prescribed clonazepam as I wanted to give up diazepam - But half way throught the month I started on an old batch of alprzolam cause the clonazepam is SO strong - At least for me - even in small doses !!

Some time ago I was on 6mg (clonazepam) daily and it was like i had a brick on my brain - now I am on a 1 or 2 mg dose - not sure - I am ready to give up what ever tommorow - Probably the alprazolam and half my diazepam !! - And probably get Tramadol !!

In SHORT clonazepam is a better anti-seisure med than alprazolam !! IMHO !! But take it easy on your clonazepam dose - they are very strong !! Be theraputic !!
 
Well, thanks but I dont have any clonazepam. I only have the alprazolam XR, and I hope it will help at least SOME in the reduction of the seizure risk? I do quite like the tram, and want to keep taking it, but I DO want to lower the threshold as much as possible. I wonder if the seroquel, being so much like a benzo will also help to lower the risk I take 400mg seroquel and 1 and 1/2 mg xanax xr at bedtime, and usually take around 2mg XAnax XR when I am using my tramadol........ So does anyone know about the xanax xr AND the seroquel???? Thanks you guys are so "pill smart" But Im a fast learner, and I am retaining all this......... so thanks

I am also on lamictal, which is supposed to control seizures in some people too, right? So, that would be Tramadol, Seroquel, Xanax XR, and lamictal....... Anyone know anything about that combo???? I have access to diphedryl syrup, too. I just want to have the least possible chance of having a seizure..... Thanks you guys!!!
 
i have not reseasrched the lamictal properly - but it is an:
"anticonvulsant drug used in the treatment of epilepsy" - so it is very like clonazepam !! - So you are quite good / better off imo than with the alprazolam alone !!

The Seroquel is the (from what I have read in these forums) the knock-out anti-psychotic / neuroleptic !! - So from the effects of this drug alone It is (only) my opinion that if you keep to the prescribed Tramadol dose you should be more than OK !!

I cant get Tramadol because I am taking bupropion 450mg (i dont want to push it) - also seisure causing (might want to have a look at it) !! - Similar to you I am officially on clonazepam - diazepam and olanzapine (neuroleptic) basically - And resently i have been stupidly imo been taking the alprazolam - soon to be dropped - But that aside we seem to be in a similar boat !!

And from what I have read in the forum I will try and go for Carisoprodol or "soma" - Also a good choice to what i have access to ATM !! we will see 2day !!

But if you r really stict on not having a seizure keep off alchohol and keep to the doses = of Tramadol !!

The tramadol causes seizures, Xanax helps reduce seizures.
 
what are you guy's using tramadol 100 MR or tramadol SR or is there an instant release tramadol IR?

what, you werent aware of regular Ultram or Tramal brands? they are 50mg IR and the only ones ive taken. And for the OP, if you got alprazolam, thats enough, you're lucky to have it, just keep in mind that its XR and xanax xr is one of the few extended release meds where u just cant destroy the time release, even if its crushed completely it makes almost no difference. So if you take 4mg for example and start to feel it, you're actually only on 1mg or so at a time.
 
Hey guys, I am only on the 50 mg instant release kind of Tram. Does anyone know about the diphedryl, will that help too? Why do you suggest staying off alcohol while on tram? If anyone else knows about my med combo above, please chime in, and thanks sooo much to those who have.... Its Tram, xanax xr, seroquel, lamictal. and I have a bottle of liquid generic diphedryl....anyone else?

xanax will definately help control the seizures, and will also increase the opioid effects nicely. benzodiazepines+opioids is a popular (and euphoric) combo, but you have to be very careful as its much, much easier to OD this way, use lower than usual doses of both drugs if you want to combine.

diphenhydramine and phenergan (promethazine) are both sedating anti-histamines. these will make the opioid high more sedating (duh!). some people really love taking anti-histamines with opiods. i think its a good combo, it really brings on the nods

i wouldn't recomend taking seroquel (quetiapine) with your other drugs cuz that stuff knocks me right out. i think it would be a waste, plus seroquel genrally makes me feel shitty.

i really know nothing about lamicital, maybe you should start a new thread about it so people with experience could give you advice.

with the meds you have, you can get a very nice high, i assure you. just be careful; you can always take more, but you can't take less.

okay, thanks thats good advice. I have been taking the seroquel at night for a long time, does anyone know if there are withdrawals from it, if I dont take it tonight, I mean, will I be able to sleep at all??? Tram really hypes me up, and it seems seroquel was the ONLY way I could get ANY sleep. On the diphedryl bottle, it says common names are benardryl, and unisom. I have unisom and am almost out of the diphedryl, so I guess they can serve the same purpse, and "bring me down" when I am READY to go to sleep. What do you think? I

I want to be sure the seroquel wont have withdrawals, and that I can safely "come down" from the tram with the xanax and unisom?? YOu guys are so good at answering all these and its much appreciated
 
id like to know if its ok to use amitriptyline or seroquel for sleep after daily tramadol use?
 
I have been using teh seroquel for sleep after tram use, with no ill effects, but stir, who seems much more knowledgeable in this field, says its not a good idea to use seroquel with tram. I have just asked above if I can use unisom after tram, with the xanax xr. I also need to know if there are seroquel withdrawals, I had been taking it every night, and plan on NOT taking it tonight, but taking unisom (see couple posts above) and jsut want to be safe......thanks again in advance
