true i havent been laid since i broke up with my last girlfriend (and im not embarassed to admit it) but that's neither here nor there. let's try to keep this thread focused on benzos, i am trying to avoid (what you make out to be) a serious addiction here and i want feedback on how i am doing. my usage pattern has been roughly as follows for the past several months: use for 2 or 3 days, then abstain for 2-3 days, repeat, then abstain for 9-10 days, and then go back to the old pattern for a week or two, then abstain 10 days again. am i going to get physically depedent by doing this?

No I really think you are fine. Go ahead and take more. Just take 1 day off a week and you'll be OK.

do you really think this type of post is appropriate for a harm reduction forum? why are you even in this thread if this is all you can contribute?

Alright, obviously this was the wrong place to ask for real information and not personal speculation... i will leave you two to your flames and ask elsewhere. Sorry for nothing guys... Klowns had a good thing going wanting to have a full fledged FAQ forum, but obviously you two cant get past the pettir differences... im done here and will talk with klowns about that faq elsewhere...

the whole purpose for this thread was to provide a place for people to discuss benzos without users like jeebus mic trying to interfere. unless you find a private place to talk, he will probably do his best to ruin whatever discussion you try to have wherever you go.

Real question:
I have some valium that I got from my folks because they hate they "effects" (yeah i giggled a bit when my mother told me that) of taking drugs(my father just got neck surgery and was prescribed it to help him sleep), and the one time I took xanax (3x 1 mg), then I drank 3 16oz beers, went out to breakfast at 4 am, came back by 5am, took 1mg more and had one more beer, and from the point forward i was told by the girl I was seeing at the time that we slept together for 3 hours. According to the used condoms and what she told me the next day we screwed 3 seperate times, do benzos generally enable/disable you from sexual contact?

I have very little recollection of the evening at all, sadly. I can remember bits, and very small ones at that. I am curious as to how much valium I should take to have a pretty intresting remainder of my day, be able to semi-function and possibly have a couple drinks later for the more dreamy state? Does this make sense? Should I seperate the questions better?

Thanks in advance guys, I have little benzo experience and have been warned by one of my suppliers that I should stay away from them... I have never been addicted to any drugs other than nicotene, but I have always been able to quit that cold turkey. I prefer opiods and haven only taken the valium to help me sleep (2 x 10mg, 3 days ago, and 1 x 10 mg 2 nights ago, but not for recreation -taken after a long night of clubbing). Any CONSTRUCTIV

E words would be nice. Thanks.

i dont know much about mixing benzos with alcohol but 30 mg of valium is a large recreational dose for me. 20 mg is nice and 10 mg provides a slight mood lift. thats about all i can say based on what i know. mixing benzos with alcohol is asking for memory loss. valium is difficul to overdose on alone, for a normal healthy person 30-40 mg should be quite safe and i doubt youll need more than that. does that answer your question?

Big diffference between therapuetic use and overt abuse. Use common sense or advice from your Doc. Daily use at moderate doses doesn't immediately = addiction.

Taking a day or two off is a good idea. If benzo's help you with life then use them for the duration and when confident and ready to taper do so.

Your revolving questions are getting tedious. Yes people do get addicted even from scripted therapuetic doses. Infrequent use doesn't lead to addiction.

i know my questions are tedious but when you read sites like http://www.benzo.org.uk/ they make benzo addiction (even when taken as directed by a doctor) sound sound so horrible that i basically feel like you can never be too careful. that's why i'm so concerned about becomming addicted and compelled to gather as much info as possible. im basically saying if i use benzos 3 or so times a week at doses of about 30 mg of diazepam each time and i take 10 days breaks whenever possible, will i eventually develop a physical depedence or this is a safe level of use? cause this is how ive been using them.

also, here's a real question i havent asked before:

to those of you who got addicted to benzos, how did it happen? how was getting off of them? did you make a full recovery? please share your experiences.

My question:

How much does grapefruit juice potentiate benzos?

Does it double it?150% it? How much did you drink and what type of grapefruit juice was it? How long did you wait before consuming the benzo?

Can somebody please answer this question? Won't grapefruit just keep the drug in your system longer since it interferes with benxo metabolism? I just don't think it would "potentiate" the high, if the definition of potentiation here is "makes the high better".

Any clarification here would be helpful...

as far as i understand, potentiate means you get more affect from a smaller amount of drug. for example, if you were to take something that interefered with the way your liver processed alcohol, you would become drunk off of less alcohol. this wouldn't necessary mean you would get a better "high" but it would mean you could conserve alcohol and you would get a better high in the sense that you would get more drunk from less. so for example, if you had a tolerance to benzos and your normal dose wasnt working anymore, taking a potentiator could in theory, bring your old high back, i think.

You are correct. The term potentiate is used loosely, the duration of a drug is a part of it's effectiveness IMHO.

To burnout, dude you seem scared to death of benzos. Why dont you just not use them? Being this anxious about anti-anxiety medication defeats the purpose of the anti-anxiety properties people seek from them. Its like wanting to do an eight ball and then go to sleep. You cant make it work. Your afraid of the drug, just leave it alone.

well, it's finally happened. i've finally developed a tolerance to benzos. even though ive only been using twice a week, my usual 30 mg of valium just doesn't get me high anymore. i even tried upping the dose to 40 mg and i still didn't get high like i used to. i used to get so high off valium, it would be as enjoyable as being drunk, now it just gives me some mild relaxation. i have a couple questions:

1) how long will i have to stop for before i can get high again like i used to?

2) for those who have been addicted to benzos, how did you deal with the issue of tolerance? to me they seem like the sort of drug where if you took them every day, tolerance would build so quickly that within a few months you would no longer get any sort of high off them. so how it is worth being addicted to a drug that doesn't even get you high?

i'm scared to death of them because of all the horror stories regarding withdrawal, no other drug is as demonized as the benzos on bluelight. as for the reason i use them, they are one of the only drugs i can still use. i can't smoke weed anymore, i can't stand the side affects of opiates, cocaine gives me chest pains, i dont really want to get into meth and psychedelics are too intense and spiritually risky for me to use often (if at all). so what does that leave me with? alcohol, my favorite drug and benzos. i'd gladly just stick with alcohol but there are situations where benzos are much better suited to than alcohol and drinking too often gives me stomach pain. benzos give me a way to get high without any of the nasty side affects of alcohol.

oh man, i took 2.5 mg of xanax last night after 10 days with no benzos and it way too much. i couldn't stay awake and then i slept 11 hours after already having slept 6 hours earlier in the day from a nap.

now my question is why did my benzo tolerance drop so much in only 10 days?
