hello,
i've used lorazepam for 8 months. i was prescribed up to 2mg per day as needed. first month i probably only took 4mg a week. after that it was more regularly 1.5mg/day for 4 months. last 3 months has been usually 2mg/day, sometimes less, sometimes more [no more than 3mg in a day and not too often]. it's led to a very nasty addiction that i had no idea was happening, until the depersonalization, cogfog, coordination problems and dizzyness became impossible to ignore, and i looked up why and found out benzo addiction is super common and nasty. i want to come off it, and definitely planning a taper schedule (already wrote it out on my calendar!). but, i was wondering, if any of you know, is this dose small enough that i shouldn't be too concerned about withdrawal? a lot of stuff i've seen about it, i feel like the people were on higher doses than i was, but maybe not? also i took 15mg temazepam for a few days last week and i'm not sure if that will affect things.
input appreciated!!

Hey Luggage--

2mg Lorazepam daily--abruptly stopping will most likely cause you a lot of irritability, insomnia, and maybe even muscle 'jerks" You should talk to your Dr. about weaning down..but if that's not possible, cut back to 1MG daily for about 10 days, then go to 1/2 tablet for 10 days. That should help--and ease you off slower. The Temazepam is another benzo, like the Lorazepam, but whith a hypnotic, so just don't take that for now--until you are off the Lorazepam.

Hey Luggage-

I posted a reply..but it didn't post. 2mg Lorazepam daily for more than 2-3 weeks can be a bitch to abruptly stop. Take 1 mg daily for about 7-10 days, then .05 daily for about a week. SE will be insomnia, and irritation.... If anything more serious, call your Dr. Save the Temazepam, which is a benzo (like the Lorazepam) plus a hypnotic. Don't take that while weaning.

thank you for the info! the temazepam i don't plan to take ever, already flushed them lol. benzofree 4 lyfe. but i was wondering if the small doses i took in addition to the lorazepam for those few days would affect the taper schedule, but i think probably not since i haven't had any temazepam for a week and i don't think i'm getting withdrawal from it.

I don't want to frighten you, but based on your pattern of lorazepam use and size of daily dose, you would not be out of the clear with respect to benzodiazepine withdrawal and the danger of it, at least not in my book. People do take much higher doses than you and for much longer periods, but because of the way and amount you used it is enough to cause significant physical dependence. I would suggest seeing a doctor about a fairly slow taper; you might be able to taper with lorazepam, but sometimes diazepam is a better choice for any benzo taper.

oh :( thank you for the post. that makes sense, and reading what i wrote again, it's pretty clear that i was developing tolerance to it. i had no idea what i was getting into with these drugs, i don't think i would have touched them if i knew about the tolerance and withdrawals. oh well :(

Good luck luggage I hope your benzo detox goes well but the thought of temazepam being flushed makes me :(.

thank you, and... honestly me too ugh, i know i shouldn't take them ever and i'm not comfortable giving them to anyone else for a lot of reasons, but it was still painful to watch them go in and away and even now i'm regretting it a little ughhgh
