Benzo Discussion

Hmm... Tricky indeed...
Seeing as I've never properly experienced full-blown Ethanol withdrawal I cannot give a straight answer.
But I should imagine it'd be booze for a few reasons:
1. It doesn't just act on GABA receptors, but many many more.
&
2. It's easily accessible, it's culturally accepted and is pretty much everywhere. Plus it's cheap as substances of potential abuse go.

^ i've suffered neither but witnessed cases of both and from an outsiders perspective alcohol is far far scarier. i think both are just as deadly. just read a 'zine,' 'get in the van,' mostly about a guys alcohol addiction, it is well written, annoying i can't find an online copy.

it also depends what you mean by 'full' addiction, there are functional addicts who are definitely still addicts, experience withdrawal etc. then there are shouting at hallucinations addicts, which is what i would mean by full alcohol addiction.

I was drinking up to half a liter of whiskey a day and that was just in the evening, I was on the edge of taking drink into work to stop the shakes etc.

That said Benzos are easier for me to take and I've already starting taking them all day:|

I have booked myself in with a drugs councilor as they wont give me CBT in this state which is fair enough

Not an easy question I know but IYO how much worse on a scale of 1-10 do you compare Benzo addiction to full alcohol addiction

benzo withdrawal is much more drawn out, not just tapering, but cold turkey, i tapered from 40mg diaz down to 10 then thought fuck it and cold turkey, even then that was a month of hell, alcohol withdrawal is extremely unpleasent too, i havent been a daily drinker long enough to get full DT's, but a few 3-4 week daily vodka binges have left me shaking violently and nasty chills/sweats, mild hallucinations and extreme anxiety/insomnia for days. Also Alcohol is extremely hard on your body, benzos not.

Also booze just makes you act violent when you are drinking vodka daily, and be be very scary for people to live with, i think thats not something you get with benzo addicts, which is alot more controlled.

gbl is a whole different story (although slightly different at gaba-b receptor, not a), like benzo withdrawal packed into 3 days of hell.

I hate having expereience with all 3, the gaba drugs are what ive never been able to turn down due to all being amazing anxiolytics.

Glad you didn't get there, because it's a horrible place to be.

An easy habit to fall into, and probably just as detrimental long-term. Easier to manage (with plenty of willpower and discipline) though. In theory...

As for the DTs / proper alchohol withdrawal - a huge overdose of datura would possibly be preferable. :\

Glad you're getting help of some kind soon. Just be careful.

fortunately neither GBL nor GHB agrees with me at all, makes me throw up in anything like active quantities. I got a whole load of that shit in the garage ready to clean the chrome wheels I don't have=D

Also it depends what benzo, coming of Diazepam on a slow controlled taper is fairly easy, but stopping xanax and not having anything to taper on i think is probably as dangerous as DT's and will send you insane for a week, and much more likely for dangerous symptoms such as seizures to occur.

just wondering, what significant differences are there between midazolam xanax and valium, using vallies as the comparison?

Xanax posses less muscle relaxing qualitys than vallies, also compared to vallies 100-200 hour half life theres is only 12 hours or so i think, and wear off after 3-4 hours, but kick in much much faster and are extremely potent. Great for killing panic attacks quickly and great anxiolytics.

Midazolam is a water soluable benzo that is mainly hypnotic, making it great for sleep. You can snort it and have it kick in in 10-15 mins, it usually causes alot of amnesia and knocks you on your ass, great for getting a good night sleep and considered really recreational too, compared to alot of benzos.

thanks for your response mate, got some of each on its way so nice to know theres a benzo for every occasion :P

Anyone had any vals (blue 10mg's) from pakistan lately know if they are decent about now?

Which ones in particular?

Benzopine blues are apparently excellent (the yellows are lush too), as are Martin Dow (who bought the 'Valium' licence from Roche).

Though MD's are already being copied by all accounts, so it's the Roche roulette situation all over again.

yeah stamped roche, i only have a blister pack here (didnt pay anything, someone just gave me them to try).

I've lost last two games of roche roulette :( almost inactive

At least they didn't make you ill like some of the 'Roche' out there seem to do. Still, getting fake benzos is shite full stop.

I'm quite impressed with the restoril temaz, sure they aren't 30mg but they seem to do the trick nicely :)

Not had any diaz in a little while, seem to eat them like smarties whenever I have any..

I've become a Restoril convert too! The recent ones don't taste of icing sugar when you break them open either.

Maybe the counterfeiters have taken notice. Still, I think you're right about the underdosing but it's not quite as bad as people make out.

Definitely not as bad. I'm shite at estimating doses but it doesn't feel too under-dosed to me. Who cares really, as long as it does what you want it to :)
