Benzo Discussion Vol. 3 (I think? Last night's a blur..)

Hi, got a question for the more experienced benzo users.
I have been taking around 80mg of valium a week on average for about last 7 months or so.
I usually have 2 blues every other day. So say 2 on Monday then none Tues then another 2 on Wed etc.
I realise it will differ between people due to metabolism etc but would I be likely in your experience to suffer withdrawals from my use if I just stopped cold turkey?
I can handle feeling shit but it's the seizures that worry me. Would the amount I've been taking be enough to cause seizures from what any of you may know from yr own experiences?
It really depends on the person. Personally, I've done that for 5 or 6 years, and never got what I'd call a withdrawal - just rebound anxiety. Now, it's more like 15mg every 2-3 days. Effie pointed out that some people never get benzo or alcohol withdrawals. I seem to be one of those people, as I pretty much stopped my ridiculous alcoholism cold turkey, also. Perhaps taper, just to be safe, but I bet you can do it quick. Start by dropping to 15mg, and then you've done away with nearly a quarter of what you were on.

Diazepam is one benzo that you can use & abuse in moderation without experiencing withdrawals.

Alprazolam & lorazepam, even zolpidem in fact, can lead to nasty withdrawals after just a couple weeks of daily or every other day use/abuse.

Once i (anybody who's messed with ambien/zolpidem will hear me) hit the old ambien hard after popping 20mg & watching a stephen king movie adaptation on youtube, wound up eating over 100mg in one night. Next day i was experiencing BAD withdrawals; couldn't sit still, horrid anxiety etc.

With Diazepam, the best advice i can give is to stay under 100mg every 14 days. Stick to this you can use the stuff for months & be A-okay.

I'm sorry, but that is terrible advice for any Benzo at all.
You want to use as little as possible for as short a time as possible.
I mean fuck - 20mg a day is enough to cause you problems in the long-run.
You'll take months to taper off it with little distress (if you're anything like me).

Is there any way to speed up the elimination of diazepam and its associated active metabolites from your system? I way overdid it over this weekend (around 15 blues over the weekend then 2 on monday). I have little to no tolerance so I am quite certain this is a massive dose for an almost benzo naive person. I'm still feeling generally a little bit confused with some cognitive impairment and its starting to get on my nerves!

Smoke a pack: nicotine eliminates diazepam.

Diazepam, and it's metabolites, are Lipid soluble (fat likes to catch it and keep hold of it).
So yes, smoking speeds up elimination, but burning calories will work also.
So get exercising!

He means use a maximum of 100mg every 14 days - like spread over. I use about 100-150mg, over 14 days, and my dosing routine keeps me withdrawal free. My tolerance has gone DOWN, over the last few years. To be fair, I'll be on diazepam for the rest of my life, but I don't ever want to be physically dependant. It's my life saver, and once I fuck that up..... That's why I use my prescribed benzos exactly how I see fit.

Aaaaahhhhhhh forgive me!
Though if everyone is honest, most long-term benzos are more harm than good. Fucking life-savers at the time though.

I'm wouldn't be happy recommending long term Benzo use at all, to anyone regardless of the intended regime, I think for many this would cause mental of not physical dependants.

I appreciate that my problems with Benzos are my own issue and that I have a tendency to abuse in general, I'm not saying that occasional use as a tool for things like panic attacks and stim come downs isn't possible, far from it I think this is where Benzos do have a role to play.

These things have been around long enough and used widely enough for the evidence to be pretty much over whelming from what I can gather from medical evidence and personal experience regular use beyond 4-6 weeks should not be recommended to anyone due to both the risk of tolerance and dependence as well as the concerns over long term impairment.

I also appreciate that, for some long term, controlled use may be something that brings more good than harm, but that does not mean that that isn't some harm.

I know that this is largely preaching to the converted to the vast majority of posters but this site sees a huge number of lurkers of which we should be mindful when making statements recommending "safe" usage regimes.

And so endeth the sermon of 23 this fine morn;)

Thank you, it's a little late now but good info to have for future reference. I don't smoke so wasn't that up for trying the smoking thing. Just out of interest, would nicotine patches/gum work?

I just wanted to post a quick thankyou to those that answered my original post.
Great to learn from people who have been there and done it, so thanks again people.

Has anyone here tried Mogadons? My mate's just eaten 4 of them when his mephedrone came. He thought it was just a brand of diazepam that came with the meph free, how long is he likely to be like this? His parents are due to visit him later today and his flatmate is not ment to know he's on drugs lol.

That's what I was thinking. Quite annoying as I need my gym stuff back from him so he better not be sleeping. Is that a particularly high dose he's taken? I'm tempted to try some myself, are they worth doing? And what's a decent dose without being overkill?

Mogadons are definitely worth having around, but only in the same way as any other benzo is worth having in your possession.

Not really to be messed with if you have no tolerance though - I've probably had more bruises under the influence of nitrazepam than any other benzo. Start off with 5mg and see how it affects you.

I'd say your mate will be feeling those four for some time.

Really? So he's eaten 4x as much as he should have? Cunt better not fall asleep lol. I'm presuming this is the likely outcome though..

Depends on your mate's tolerance, but I personally wouldn't take more than 5mg at a time unless I was planning to get some sleep.

Just make sure that if he stays awake he doesn't go out drinking or anything like that.

I'm pretty sure he'll be sleeping mate! Sam's right, if he is awake it would be good if you could keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, bit late for that I know, but people will take stuff without research! :)

Yeah, stick half a gramme of meph up his bum, and watch him wake up sharpish.
