So I first tried meth when I was 16 yrs old I stopd until now I'm 21 just got my first nurse job and I do night shift 7pm-7am. I do one line of meth and smoke 2 hits every time before work around 6:30pm then at midnight I do the same and at 3am I do one line. By the time I get home at 8 am I'm able to fall asleep then wake up at 2pm spend time with my wife and kid then I do it all over again.
I also eat and and sleep enough to recover

I would like to hear what other users think about my situation, meth has made my job alot easier and has made me perform at my best when I work.
Thank you

I've been a functional addict for a long time, and well it somehow still ended with some terrible consequences. I'm afraid that it happens in the majority of cases. Stimulants are really bad for your health, really really bad. The crash is going to be harder and harder, recovery slower and tolerance higher so I advice you to stop know when it's all relatively uncomplicated.

Come on man, you're a nurse, you should know better than that. What are you going to do when your tolerance goes up and the same amount isn't working for you? Your setting yourself up for a nasty cycle with so much to lose: a good job, a wife, and a kid. I'm currently dating a nurse and I am pretty sure they can randomly drug test you as well, considering you have people's lives in your hand. I know if I was a patient I wouldn't want my nurse to be spun out. Just quit now while it is not a big deal withdrawl wise, and start drinking coffee or energy drinks if you must.

All I can say is....drug tests. Beware of them. Poof, no more job. I'm lucky I stopped smoking pot only 5 days before my job started piss testing, and I passed. I guess it was a second chance. If you're gonna do shit, at least do shit that doesn't show up on DTs if you want to keep your job.

It seems like a routine that could catch up with you. I worked night shifts for a bit and it's hard to adjust at first but if your body gets into the routine then eventually i won't need any more stimulants to get through a shift than you would if it were a regular dayshift.

There's also the risk of getting caught intoxicated or having it affect your judgment. It's not very hard to cross the line between focused and spun out you wouldn't want to be dealing with patients while tweaked. Even if you do not increase dosage the effects can change with time and become more jittery than clear-headed. And it's not really possible to ensure consistent dosages with drugs of unknown purity.

I was able to chip at meth for about 5 years, however, I used like once a week to stay up and do homework. There were a few periods of a week to 3 weeks that I did it daily, but yet functional. I felt like things were getting out of hand as I watched my friend spiral into psychosis, so I quit.

I think u r playing with fire with the daily thing because it's not even like one time per day. Also, I agree with Legerity-- quality can really vary. Once I sniffed what I considered a normal line and stayed up for 3 nights, spun out of my mind. Going to work like that is a hazard to ur patients, the ppl around u, and putting ur career at risk.

Ask for a day shift or get a normal adderall/dextrostat prescription.

In the 2 weeks of ur usage, have u noticed any changes? Has ur wife said anything? If u are going to keep this up no matter what ppl say, at least be weary when u get a new batch bc of such range in strength/quality/characteristics.

I am moving this Thread to OD as it is concerned with a general opinion/discussion on Meth use.

oh boy. you have no idea what youre getting into. yeah it always begins this way with meth and starts out like this...

i am currently 2 months clean from meth. the longest ive gone without it. meth is an evil drug, it destroyed my life and took everything from me. it overtook me completely and i lost myself...who i was..i became the drug. i was a stranger to myself and my loved ones.

i would stop now before it gets bad. and it WILL get bad, okay? NOBODY uses meth and remains just fine and dandy, without any consequences at all. eventually, too, the meth will stop working the way its working for you now. it will lose its luster, you wont feel so happy and like it makes your job easier and it will stop, like you said, making you perform at your best at work....youll most likely end up losing your job if you continue using meth...

ALSO: with meth, like any other drug, you begin to build a tolerance to it and will need MORE OF THE DRUG to get high and get that feeling youre looking for with the drug. the mental obsession with meth is INTENSE powerful and extremely hard to break once you take that first hit of meth. i still struggle every single day with the mental obsession i have with meth.

and dont forget about the PSYCHOSIS you get when using meth..oh yean thats the best part about it.NOT. the psychosis [for me] got so bad i was sent to the psych ward for 7 days. i was hearing shit, seeing people in my bed, in my car and house, i would see things out of the corner of my eye and see shadow people constantly. the paranoia got bad everytime i was high i would peek out my window blinds every 5 seconds convinced that the cops were coming to get me.

do you think what youre doing is totally harmless and you will be fine just doing a line of meth here and there? once you try to stop, it will be harder than you expect. please stop now while you still have a chance. meth is no joke...
just one line or two hits of meth wont be enough for you soon....with meth, your tolerance builds pretty fast and youll need more and more and start using it more frequently..it will get worse, it always does...

yikes.
ever heard of coffee?
but seriously, you spent how long training to be a nurse? a drug test would totally kill your career.
