Good stuff. Most truckers have noise toys and other things (roger beeps and things that play music underneath your audio when you talk) anyway, so it only makes sense.

I'm a ham radio operator with a license and all that, but CB is still the most fun when it comes to radio.

Very simple

CB doesn't require a license and an examination to acquire that license and has very few rules. It is channelized in the 27MHz band (which is a good frequency band for local communication when the conditions are right, but when there are lots of sunspots, you can talk worldwide on the 27MHz band, and interference from distant stations makes local communication hard during these conditions) (you can only legally use channels 1 through 40, nothing else and you can't use any frequency between the channels).

Ham radio does require a license and in order to get that license you have to pass exams in radio theory, electronics and radio operating practices. You get free access to bands of frequencies, some of which are lower in frequency than CB and give you worldwide range 24/7/365, and others are higher in frequency and offer better local area coverage. Ham radio operators (in the U.S. at least) can transmit up to 1500 watts transmitter power, CB radio operators are limited to 4 watts, although a lot of CB operators now transmit with more then the legally allowed 4 watts.

On a side note, CB radio is 80 channels in the UK, and Aus. has two CB radio bands, 27MHz (40 channels) and 477 MHz (80 channels/UHF CB). It's apparently quire popular in Australia.
