barbiturates vs. benzodiazepines

Phenobarbital is very dangerous with alcohol, read some of my stupid posts.

But it does feel damn fucking goood.

No, it was not prescribed........ (except by me)

I am not trying to boast but, I will accurately inform you that I took upto 400 mg a dat of phenobarbital for a while with alcohol.

But If you want to repeat this experiment, be damn careful........ !!!!!!!

idk why this question was asked, benzos are like barbs with a safety net around them that limits their intoxicating and euphoric properties.

while the BEST of the benzo world(ex. temazepam) may be better than the LEAST recreational barb in terms of euphoria, almost all other barbs blow benzos straight out of the water.

if you've tried secobarbital or pentobarbital you'd easily see that the two familes of drugs can't be compared.

safety isn't the only reason benzos replaced barbs...

You forgot about money.

All the good barbiturates were losing preference and patents right about the time Librium and Valium hit the market hit the market.

O.K.

Next questions are...
...What is your tolerance like? (Benzos included, they do have cross tolerance.)
...Do you get paradoxical reactions from GABA-A (P.A.M) drugs? (This makes anything, not just the barbiturates useless.)

You cannot blame it on the barbiturates. There is human error somewhere in your treatment. Or, you lied to your doctor (Tolerance, not telling him is lying.) and did not receive the proper dose.
i took 300mg the first i ever tried phenobarbitol.

i have a ridiculous tolerance to benzos :(

i can only recall the one time suffering paradoxical effects off any benzos and that was nimetazepam.

Yeah, there is a cross tolerance in between pretty much all GABA-A agonist drugs.

Plus, you are used to taking hypnotic benzos, which depleted sedation from the phenobarbital...

anyone have that graph shows the ceiling for lethel doses of benzos
vs benzos

i seen it somewhere
cant seem to find it

For most barbiturates anything over a gram is fatal...
It's even less when mixed with alcohol and opiates...
Benzos are just plain really hard to O.D. on unless you have a pure powder of a potent benzo, which will still take grams to be fatal... If you have pills and are not in ill health, you can black out and pop your whole prescription and still be as dandy as can be in about a week tops. I find the more you pop the longer the effects last for some odd reason.
Once again this is lessened by alcohol and opiates.

Not odd, redosing benzodiazepines increases both the effects and duration. While redosing with other drugs like amphetamines doesn't increase the high.

And as for the topic, you can't compare any benzodiazepine to the short acting barbiturates in any way. They are simply superior. Although they are more risky and toxic.

I meant the more you pop at once. You know how during blackouts people tend to go one after the other nonstop.

barbiturates(except phenobarbital or the Floricet formulation, in which good benzos like temazepam or flunitrazepam are a bit better) are better than benzos.

fast acting ones(my favorite is secobarbital or "reds") are more euphoric and relaxing than a benzo. they also feel more intoxicating.

the problem is that they're quite dangerous in overdose and are dangerously addictive. the lethal dose of a strong barb is often not much higher than the normal theraputic dose.

secobarbital, amobarbital, pentobarbital, and other barbs really are only beat by methaqualone as far as recreational effects.

Agree with this 100%

Is there anywhere, where Quaaludes are still prescribed. South africa right? Mandrax? I may have to take a vacation and find a pharmacist who wants his pocket laced or just get an appointment and get a script haha. :-D I'd go that far - I wasnt to try them all its like a bucket list.
