yeah i do that trick too but usually forget a plastic bag or wrapper to put them in because of the smell factor.

i can just imagine the contraption you've got yourself;)
 
^ Especially in the bush like the last two days where I have been saturated and in ankle deep swamps all afternoon. Trust me, I smell worse than a cigarette when I'm out there :D

Cigarette butts wouldn't make up much of it but it might be enough to get you to make sure plastic goes in the bin.

I'm even reluctant to buy cigarette lighters after thinking realistically about plastics....
 
I was stupid enough to get sucked into the Coke marketing. I don't drink much of it but it saved me today giving me a sugar rush tricking my brain I had actually eaten lunch :)
