Australian freebie thread

^ i used to love radio comps. I used to win CD's and movie and concert tickets... now i hardly even listen to the radio. Maybe I should start listening again! :)

Best freebies of all include the ones you pay up front for and get the benefits of later.

Like Qantas club.

Seriously good value if you travel a lot and want to be treated like royalty.

/the first year is $700, subsequent goes down to $200 or so.

Its heaven in an airport and while not a freebie and not for the totally broke, this is highly recommended for those who can afford it.

You get seat upgrades. Your luggage is made priority, The lounges are luxuirous as are the bathrooms.

Hanging out in airports are finally not so shit, its so worth it,

FREE: as much alcohol as you fucking want. As much food as you want. Coffees, teas, internet, newspapers, space to lie down, table service, its so amazing. Ive already spent my joining fee on food and piss. Dodged cues, got bumped to business class.

Theres nothing like it.

Its not in your reach if you cant afford the fee or dont travel much. But if you do, just join. The atmosphere of the airport is greatly improved. Unsquare and myself got tamked at the airport literally for free. So cool.

Have not regretted joining, am loving my travel more now and feel sorry for thos who shuffle through airports like sardines!
 
I ended up recieving my free coffee, protein and sort of herb supplement.

However.................. I never received my FREE G-String!!!!

Very unhappy as I was planning on regifting it to my girlfriend for christmas.

On all Hungry Jacks cash registers there is a button that says 2 FOR 1 Whoppers.
This button is on there for promotions, BUT, but the joy of it is that 99% of Hungry Jacks won't ask you for a voucher.

This only works for Whoppers', and will only work if you are buying a single one.

When you goto Hungry Jacks ask for a "2 for 1 Whopper deal. I have also done this for a 2 for 1 Whopper with cheese.

Won't work on any other burgers or products though, so don't ask for a 2 for 1 meal or anything greedy like that :)

Ive been doing this for months, with every burger BUT the whopper... but just the burger, any burger, not a meal or anything!

Qantas is part of what used to be the Star Alliance , but now I think its called One World , I dont know off top of my head what other airlines are members. Think British Airways is , canadian Air , Ill update when I get the info. All these airlines are allowed access , and with the frequent flier points you get in the scheme are actually free.

Dont bother getting a Westpac Altitude credit card which claims the usage of this card is worth the high yearly fee. The frequent flier points equal less than half the worth of the
Qantas frequent flier card. In fact any "freebie " using Westpac is not enough compensation for the yearly fee. And you dont get to use the awesome facilities, eat the amazing food and drink the wine , beer , tea and coffee in the lounges accruing points on credit cards.
 
Star Alliance and One World are different. One World is most notably Qantas, Cathay, American and British, along with 6 other airlines. Star has United, Air NZ, US, Thai, Canada an a lot of smaller regional airlines. There is also SkyTeam which has Continental, KLM, Alitalia and a few others.

I know because my Dad was one of the founders of One World (very proud of him!).

Have done a bit of travelling using points my parents racked up over the years, when a teenager, using Star Alliance.

Yup, from memory Air NZ had best service from Perth to Nova Scotia- weird. But that was 1993.

Main point is if you stick to using one company that has good products and specials for frequent customers - like frequent fliers to Gloria Jeans coffee houses, freebies come to those who are willing to buy from them regularly.

6th coffee= free.

Oh, we went thru HJ's the other day and Un/sq was pretty confident the post in this thread about the free 2nd whopper was legit, as was I as had a few people confirm.

But we walked in, not drive thru which I guess would be better to try and scam it up, but the chick serving said here was no such thing and had no idea wtf he was talking about.

/wasnt hungry anyway. bleh :p

I'm a member of many many survey sites to make some pocket money, but this one's by far my favourite.
If you have 5 minutes spare each day while you're at work or at home pottering, it's handy to do a few bits and pieces and earn your rewards. A lot of it is bullshit and I don't buy into it all, but I like getting my $25 via Paypal semi-regularly.

Worth looking at, IMHO.

ah ok, thought so. I made a few easy dollars out of email cash but for some reason when they forced us to change to rewardscentral they did something that annoyed me so I quit. I get a bit vindictive like that sometimes!

The best surveys were the McDonalds ones. You had to buy Macca's twice and after doing a bit of a mystery shopper thing they gave you enough reward points to pay for your meals. Can't go wrong!
