How about if non-Australians contributed properly as opposed to spammed pointless shit threads? Thats all well and good for the lounge, or if they kept it in our existing rant or off-topic thread...

If I, for example, went into SLR and started creating multiple threads about homosexuals, necrophilia and animals (which are all, I may add, very on topic in SLR), The threads would be deleted quick smart, and I would say that I'd end up like that classy classy man, Whipped-Butter. Gone for good, with noone trusting a thing I said.

Funny that these Non-Australians can abide to the rules in other forums (not that I read them - they're full of americans), but as soon as they visit here they feel the need to poke fun, in what I'm sure they consider to be a most light-hearted way.

And here's something else. I don't think KB is driving that baby. I think that baby is a fuckwit.

ha.
I crack me up.

Ok, so as witnessed by all and sundry, there seems to be quite a few people who have issues with the way aus social is run and runs.

I realise that threads like this have been started in the past, but I thought a new, fresh one was warranted so that everyone can have a space to air their thoughts about this forum.

I (and I'm sure I speak for the other 3 mods) am eager to hear people's (regular posters, n00bs, americans, others) complaints, compliments (if any ) and suggestions regarding how Aus social operates.

Obviously, any personal attacks, or pointless insults will be deleted...in the spirit of Aus social this thread is for discussion.

I'll split off some of the posts from the "what did you do to piss someone off today thread" to start it off, and add my thoughts in after that.

So - feel free to bitch, moan, debate, criticise, empathise....<add verb of choice here>, and lets see if we can actually get somewhere with this.

Mary Poppins :)

(sorry moe - I started this thread then realised splitting all the previous posts would mean that they came first :|)

that's funny, because from where i'm sitting, you just do his bidding and go along with all his plans to put proverbial spanners in the works that is aus social?

huh, how bout that perspective thing?

ummm...he wasnt even around......besides, there is nothing like a spanner in the works to break up such a cliquey forum every now and then. :|

<3

^ i'm well aware that KB wasn't around, but i clearly wasn't referring to just today as i'm also aware that this isn't an isolated event, and that he isn't exactly president of the aus social fan club.

i'm fairly sure after the blitz is over, Aus social will return to how it was before, therefore rendering it fairly redundant save the temporary amusement of a few bored minds.

If you want something to be less cliquey, my personal guess would be that impinging yet another clique on a place is not really the best idea. :|

You don't change something by perpetuating it.

And now to end this post with a suitably fitting pseudo-intellectual wank...

"We must be the change we wish to see in the world" -Ghandi

^ the "fairly redundant" thing IS the problem...there has to be a happy medium, you know, a bit of excitement here and there without too much fuckerardery (for lack of a better word) and without having the same tired old threads on the front page week after week.

The answer lies in breaking up the patterns that exist here but no new people feel anywhere near welcome here.

Yeah, some thread ideas suck, some are stupid but some threads that have stayed open are BORING MAN!

I am sure a lot of "bloody Americans" and those outside this microcosm that would like to join in however Aus Social has a reputation of being very staid and conservative.

I dunno, just rambling really. Maybe a thread to discuss this issue is in order, as it will keep cropping up every now and then. I would start it myself...but... I would like to keep my record CLAWS free :)

(You know I love ya MP)

Personally, no-one's ever made me feel overly welcome in the lounge either. I never complained. I accepted that that particular community wasn't for me... :)

I have no desire to visit the forums I deem as 'boring'. I also have no desire to completely alter them, when clearly there's people that enjoy them as they are.

Well this is how the majority of us happen to like it. Aus social is [funnilly enough] designed for our fellow men. American's are more than welcome to join us... but they should become a part of our community. Rather than trying to force their community onto us. We don't want Aus social like the lounge - it simply doesn't appeal :).

Look what you did. You turned zephyr's thread into something interesting 8o

Guess it will be closed soon :\

I just think that I have a right to post in a social forum like everybody else. Just because YOU don't find a thread up to the same standard as, say a thread based on the plot line of neighbours, or a thread about punching me in the face, doesn't mean that other people can't enjoy it.

Control freak much?

^ No offence intended... but the truth is - you can be awfully ignorant.

I post in SLR. I'd say I'm [fairly] respected within that forum.

How, you ask? Not by dominating the forum... but by participating. If anyone wants to be a part of Aus Social... they simply have to do the same.

This shouldn't be too hard to understand. It's common sense.

Maybe when you have a name... Maybe that's when you can make changes. But why on earth would anyone think they were deserving [above all other contributers] up until that point? 8(

Um, because it's an open forum on a public message board?

Please show me where I said I was more deserving of other contributors? Hmm? All I, or anyone else that has posted here is trying to do IS participate, but it's kind of hard when threads keep getting closed :\

Ignorant hey? Thanks I'll remember that, bitch. And to think I've defended you. I have a name, the only name I've ever needed on this board by the way.

I think I have pretty legitimate complaints that until now, have not been answered. Ever stop to think that if so many people, mods of this board included, have complaints about your forum that maybe , just maybe there might be something in it? I certainly listen to SLR posters' opinions about the forum.

And for a forum that claims they don't want to be like the lounge there are certainly alot of parallels that could be drawn. Difference is, at least the lounge don't take themselves so seriously.

I've backed up stuff you've said in the past too. Because I felt you were right. I'm disagreeing with you now... because I don't feel you are right. If I feel you're right again in the future... I will agree.

I never said that you said you were more deserving. I said think. And if you don't think like that... I'm sorry for using the wrong word... I should have used acting in it's place :).

I won't retaliate on your petty efforts of dragging up my past. I'm wise enough and competent enough to stick to the discussion at hand.

And honestly, I think your questions have been answered. You just don't want to see the answers [hence why i used the word ignorant].

You started the petty attack and then talk about sticking to the 'discussion at hand?'

Doppelganger, you brought up a bunch of stuff about my dominating this forum and claiming some kind of status over other posters, which is exactly what I'm arguing against. Take a little search through this forum honey. I haven't seen any of these so called 'dominators' personally attack other posters, simply a humourous attempt at trying to get to know you all better, since the majority of you don't post anywhere else on this board.

In return, there have been a great many unwarranted personal attacks on DigitalDuality, randycaver and probably a couple of others, from you lot.

Sorry, but you brought this shit on yourselves.

You've got a while to go before you can claim any wisdom at this rate.

hehe legitimate complaint? I just think you guys are whinging because you're bored. No-one could care as much as you guys are pretending to, surely!

Just don't post here if you don't like it. I don't see what's so difficult about that.

I never accused you of dominating this forum.

Perhaps you should take the time to calm down... and interpret what I've said logically. It's not all about you.

I don't believe the word threatening was used. Annoying would be closer to the truth.

The thing is, the vast majority of people are more than happy with the way things are run and the few of you who continually complain just look like snivelling, bored school kids who feel like stirring shit. We don't care. Truly.

^ and unfortunately, beatlebot, it's those little addendums to your posts which kind of mar your "well meaning efforts to get to know aus social/aus social posters" in the eyes of aus social regulars.

i'm confident you're intelligent enough to understand why.

however, i will respond to this in pm.
